Jewell: Loanee Situation Not Ideal
Monday, 8th Oct 2012 16:43

Town boss Paul Jewell has admitted that the loan situation is not ideal but says he needs to bring in experienced players rather than “younger, hungry” signings until the Blues’ league position is more secure. The additions of Richie Wellens, DJ Campbell and Bilel Mohsni late last week took the total of loanees to seven.

Jewell told the club site: “Bringing in loans is not ideal, I know that, but it’s the situation we find ourselves in.

"We’re not flush with millions of pounds to just go out and spend on whoever we want.

“We keep talking about this being a long-term project, though I know that doesn’t wash with a lot people and I understand that.

“We’d like to go with younger, hungry players, but until we can get a foothold in this division and move forward to a stronger position, we have to go with experience.”

Meanwhile, Portman Road hasn't made the short-list of 2015 rugby World Cup venues, despite "an initial conversation" having taken place.

THERE IS NO POINT GETTING RID OF ANYBODY, OTHER TEAMS JUST HAVE MORE TO OFFER PLAYERS SO THEY WANT TO JOIN THEM. WOULD YOU RATHER PLAY AT A FULL AND PASSIONATE SELHURST PARK OR A EMPTY MOANING MISERABLE PORTMAN ROAD? (USING JOEL WARD AS AN EXAMPLE) WITH NO FAN BASE THERE IS NO CLUB, IF THERES NO PASSION HOW DO YOU EXPECT THE PLAYERS AND STAFF TO GET PUMPED FOR GAMES?! ALL THIS NEGATIVITY CREATES NERVES AND TENSION. THEY DONT WIN YOU FOOTBALL GAMES. PATIENCE. PASSION. SUPPORT. THOSE ARE THE THREE MAIN INGREDIENTS TO SUCCESS. DISLIKE THIS COMMENT ALL YOU LIKE MOANERS, I KNOW THE REAL FANS ARE WITH ME!!!!! COYB!!!!

One word sums up Jewell's statement 'Pathetic', he's a dead man walking & should do the decent thing NOW!!!!

There will be no progress until he is gone and this time the club MUST get the appointment right!!! Pity we never got Ronnie Moore!

why didn't the club start planning as soon as it became clear that several senior players would be leaving the club at the end of last season ie at least as far back as 10 months ago.

...and then in a few months time he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say that we need more younger players at the club and then he'll say we need more experienced players and then he'll say......repeat to fade

Was N'Daw injured saturday?...i'm not saying i'd have picked him (wouldn't have signed him in the first place tbh)..but if he's fit to play, then Jewell is now replacing the actual loanees with loanees..it just get's more ridiculous.

And this will go on and on and on until Jewell goes. Next year if he finds himself in the job still which is very likely under Evans, he'll say the same when we have a terrible start. We're going no where anytime soon.

Gibbsy, for christ sake who do you think you are, it`s a two way street we need to see some effort on the pitch to correspond with the response from the crowd.

I think we are not in a good position but Paul Jewell has found it hard to get the right players into the squad he wants. To be honest am quiet please with the new signings DJ Campbell quality player with pace and can score goals Danny Higginbotham wicked centre back just a shame we couldn't get him at the start of this season let's not be negative now we have a decent squad now it was the defence we was short on and have done well against Barnsley, Brighton and Cardiff football has been better and the defence more solid against clubs near the top of the championship. I feel same as everybody else saying Jewell out but to be honest there not playing that bad and the squad are good enough to be in the top half I believe Paul Jewell can turn this around so let's get behind him now as the club needs you now the most and push forward with the same old comments sacking managers as at the end of the day it's players that are playing the football on the pitch. COYB!!!

Bluetown... You think they are making no effort? Quite clear you dont go to any games then, they run their arses off everygame without fail! So next point, caller? Support your team for gods sake, reading some of these comments is embarrassing and disgusting!!!!!

This man is mad , our best results and performances have come from playing up and coming players and i would certainly rather see our own players getting the experience , the results could not possibly be any worse than they are under these experienced line ups we keep seeing changed and swapped about every week

Whats this 'get a foothold in this division' rollocks? We had a perfectly good foothold in this chuffing division. Magic got us to 8th place and was sacked by ME. Jewell makes it sound like we've just been promoted to the Championship and we should be grateful and patient. Its rubbish that what it is..

What an absolute pile of tosh that Bloke speaks!
I'd love to have some of his quotes to hand from the past eighteen months, the bloke contradicts himself every time he opens his mouth!
It maybe a long term project Jewell and Evans, but you will be lucky to have any fans left to watch youre utter shambles!
I'm boycotting games until jewell goes, I've had enough, I truly have!
I'm sorry fellow town fans, but the bloke is a complete idiot.
Most of us see the shambles unfolding before us every week but apparently Jewell and clegg are doing a marvellous job?
bollocks!

what i have to say is with respect to the fans that go to all the games. Hear me out please. With living in ireland & money not too flush i only get over for a game every 2nd year. Still a massive town fan. Have been for 34 years. My point hoping & dont want to p..s of anyone is. Why o why no demos? It got rid of Jim & he was away above the present & last clown. So hope no one is offended just had a few beers & fed up with where this great club is.

Well irishtim, we just are too nice of fans i'm afraid. But I agree we got Magilton out quick but we were succeeding more with him than the idiots we've had since. More banners needed if this continues because I just hate seeing us in the bottom 3.

@TractorBoy666. If i feel strongly about this shambles i feel for all that pay & go to the games. Still we have to hope that change will come soon.

Yep I go to every home game but the travelling to away games is just ridiculous to watch what we have too at the moment. Let's hope so.

We would have been in trouble without it (£36m debt) but five seasons of Marcus Evans money, three managers and NO PROGRESS!!! In fact regression! Very depressing. We need a new manager yes but who?

That needle is well and truly stuck on the record isn't it! Seriously I'm almost finding it hilarious if it wasn't so worrying.
Why are we in this position to start with? Why have we got to panic and loan half a team AGAIN? How the hell is a team going to be built when season after season due to bad management and bad decisions we struggle and have to panic buy. Why are certain young members of the squad played then cast aside to be replaced by a loanee?
I've said it before but something has got to change. It's not as if this bad spell is something new. Its been happening for several seasons now and we are going downwards not upwards. We were told we wouldn't loan as many players and Lo and behold we loan half a team. I don't believe a word the club says anymore.
