Franz Thijssen has had plenty of experience managing and coaching and has been a dismal failure.

no one unproven at this level. needs to be someone the players respect who has been there are done it.

On that note, Harry, Billy Davies or maybe McCarthy. Jury is out for me on Coyle.

It would be good to see a young manager such as D'Canio or Karl Robinson take charge but this would be a risk and unfortunately we are not in a position to takes risks! I like Curbishley but it worries me that he has been out of management for the last 4 years. I would love Harry but as others have said, that will not happen. McCarthy would not be a bad choice as he is proven at Championship level. I would like to see Terry Butcher as manager as he is doing a very good job at Inverness. We will just have wait and see!

Michael Appleton - No1 Choice
Karl Robinson
Billy Davies
Terry Butcher, Matt Holland, Rico under someone else maybe

Coyle, McCarthy and Curbishley no, unless Holland is alongside him.

Mick Mills in an advisory capacity upstairs but not manager.

Ole Gunnar - Yes but not possible. He will go to the Prem in the near future

If Megson comes, switch the friggin lights off

Forget all the nostalgia about mills, butcher, tarrico, holland. We need the best man for the job. We need someone who is a motivator, organiser and passionate. It has to Mick McCarthy. Not everyones cup of tea but he will install grit and determination in our players, something we have lacked since before Keane took over. I doubt Mick will be ringing Roy for his opinion of ITFC though!

Why has no one mentioned Michel Platini yet? He got Beattie his UEFA medal and we already have one St. Etienne connection at the club - it just has to be, it's not like he is doing anything else at the moment.

@CGH Sandoval, the manager who miraculously kept Rayo Vallecano in La Liga is currently unemployed (the club sacked him for standing up to the directors!) and would be a great choice. Doesn't speak English though as far as I'm aware...

MUST be someone with ITFC in their blood... Amir Karic, with Ulrich Le Pen as assistant?!

Redknapp - no chance, Solskjaer has turned down several bigger clubs than us, so no chance there, Mowbray and Poyet wouldn't leave their current jobs to come here either.

I would like Curbishley with Holland / Hreidarsson as his assistant, yes I know he's been out of football for 4 years, but it's only because of this he'd come here - when he left West Ham he said he'd only take a top half premier league team!!

Di Canio has been successful at Swindon and would make things very interesting but would be a big gamble.

Terry Butcher has been unsuccessful in all of his managerial jobs outside of Scotland lasting less than a year at Sunderland, Sydney and Brentford, so although a Town legend, no thanks.

Billy Davies I see like Jewell, has had some success and some failures in his track record - but has been sacked in all but 1 of his jobs!!

Mick Mills. Alternatively, I hope ME splashes out and gets someone with decent Premiership experience (rather than wasting it on new players left right and centre), who knows exactly what they're doing (eg. Rednapp). No point wasting money on someone unproven; otherwise we'll be in the same situation in 18 months time again.

Get a manager that can identify the lackadaisical players and get rid of them, and who can motivate the skillful hard workers. We need a return to the one pass attacking football we had under Burley, not this backwards and forwards triangle rubbish. Sooner we do that the sooner we'll be filling the seats a PR and getting into the Premiership where the much needed money is.

You have to ask yourself the question - who would want to take on a club that is bottom of the league and nearly adrift with only one transfer window remaining, 8 loanees and 2 permanent centre backs. Not too attractive. I imagine that ME would have gone straight to his mate 'Arry to ask his views. Providing that we dont get Megson (or some other teribble suggestions like Robbie Savage), whoever comes has to be better than PJ. Surely! My hope is for Curbishley, Coyle or Butcher.

The suggestion of Brian Klug in the interim works for me. The players (permanent and those wanting to join at the end of their loans) will be playing for their places now so may well up their game.

If BK did nothing other than chuck out Wellens (Leicester use your own training ground to get your guys fit), Henderson (no better than Loach based on last night's showing) and Mohsni (sounds too high maintenance for what we need) and give N'Daw and Hyam a look-in as well as restoring Loach's confidence that would do me SHORT TERM.

Then Evans should seek proper advice from those that know ITFC and know football (inc Mick Mills) on what structure he needs before he even thinks about getting in anyone to run the team. Just appointing another manager without a clear plan, guaranteed budget (just stop taking interest payments for a year would help) and a football savvy person between Evans and the Manager - Dir of Football if he still wants Clegg as his front-man - will just be another 2 years wasted IMO.

Glenn Pennyfather, young, hungry, ex-ITFC and doing OK at Chelmsford.

Well if everyone is being unrealistic, then so shall I.

With the supporters we have it is doubtful any manager not certified would come !!!! The treatment meted out to our players and mangers by so-called supporters is beyond acceptable and would not be something a new manager would find as a welcome . Our so-called supporters need to have a reality check and realise we are no longer ( and have not for some years ) one of the bigger teams and need to accept we have to lower our expectations until we have earned the right to get to where we used to be ! Football has changed and become mercenary where players no longer have the loyalty to clubs ( when did a player last have a testimonial for 10 years service at a club ? ) so have no real interest in managers careers and can cause disruption in progress and cost m

Solksjaer,Paulo DiCanio or Butcher with a young assistant a la Matt Holland, although I suspect we may play it safe and will end up with Curbishley, McCarthy or Hoddle, either way I would be happy and it would give us some hope for the future

Main attributes required for an incoming manager:
1) Must have played for Town at some time
2) Any ex-footballer with a continental-sounding surname
3) Must be Harry Redknapp
4) Er -that's it

With all the different suggestions it just shows how difficult and important this decision is going to be and how unlikely its going to be to please all the fans.
The main thing at the moment is to get us away from the relegation zone so i think they will go for experience which will probably mean the likes of McCarthy.
Personally i would like either Holloway,Mowbray or Robinson.
Just a thought but how about Harry helping out his mate ME until we are safe in the championship and then get in a young hungry manager with no pressure on his shoulders?
This way ME/SC have longer to look for the right replacement and Harry gets some more glory and keeps his hand in management........You know it makes sense?

Patrick Kluivert with Frans Thijssen as assistant. Would bring the Dutch style of play back to the club while giving a fresh young manager a chance. No doubt would attract younger players to the club as well as bringing back a sense of tradition with Thijssen's passion for Ipswich. They'de definitely connect with the fans too...

I think Mick Mills as Director of Football is a good call - we need someone to replace Clegg with the footballing side of the business, however we need to ensure the new manager will be happy to worth with a Director of Football.
