Orr Keen on Permanent Switch
Wednesday, 14th Nov 2012 12:15

New signing Bradley Orr says his loan move to the Blues from Blackburn is very much with a view to a permanent switch if all goes well. The 30-year-old’s loan means he will be at Portman Road at least until January 26th.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Orr says he has previously been close to playing for Mick McCarthy: “The manager has a proven track record at this level and the one above and is a massive factor in me coming to Ipswich.

“I have spoken to him in the past when there was a possibility that I could have signed for him. It didn't work out then but I’m delighted it has this time.

“Having spoken to the manager a couple of times recently and knowing what Ipswich is all about anyway, it was an easy decision to make. I didn’t need to speak to anyone else in the game. I just jumped in my car and came down here!

“I know the club is at the wrong end of the table but that doesn’t bother me. With the manager here, I think it’s exciting times for Ipswich and I’m glad to be part of it.”

In terms of the longer term, the right-back, whose Blackburn contract is up in the summer of 2014, added: “Firstly I want to do well for Ipswich. If that happens, then I might get the chance to extend that stay. If it doesn't, I will be sent back to Blackburn.

“We have talked about me staying. That’s the plan and I’d certainly be interested in a permanent move.

“If the manager and the powers that be want that to happen, I could be here longer than the loan date but it will be down to how well I do here and how much I can help the club. My priority is doing as well as I can for Ipswich Town.”

Having fallen out of favour at Ewood Park since Henning Berg took over as boss, he says he felt he needed to move on: “There were a few things going on in the upper echelons of the club at Blackburn and I wanted to get out on loan.

“Once I heard of Ipswich’s interest I was really keen to come down here. Thankfully we’ve managed to get something sorted and I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I know Ipswich well from playing here a number of times in the past and I know that the club is steeped in history. It’s a big club and it’s an honour to be here.”

Yeah, said it's all right
I won't forget
All the times I've waited patiently for a Blue
And Mick goes out and knows just what to do
And we won't be alone again tonight my dear!!!!!

May I be amongst the first to say welcome Bradley.

The old cliched new signing sayings cut little ice with me but in the way you spoke I genuinely do believe you are excited to be here and I'd like to welcome you and hope you have a long, enjoyable stay.

Sounds like he really wants to play for us. Respects & admires MM. Could be a great piece of business & Young Elliott will l;earn alot from him. Pity we didn't get MM in sooner.

This is needs must, and a welcome addition it is too. Hopefully this won't effect young Hewitt too much but where we are in the league we have no time for sentiment.
You can see exactly what MM is trying to do & where exactly he wants to go. And it looks alright with me!!

That's very good news, and I wonder if a transfer fee has been agreed with Blackburn already if the loan works out well? My worry is always that he plays well then the selling club put the price up or the player wants higher wages. Of course, a right back playing well would be a bonus in itself!

At last a proper solid full back. Shame it has taken 2 managers to get to this point, yet MM manages to do it within a couple of weeks!

Monarch Blue, respect for your Love reference. Bet there's not many on here that would recognise the lyrics of such a great band :)
Let's hope Orr does the business!

I just can't get over how quick MM manages to do deals. It took the last 2 managers chuffin' ages and reams and reams of TWTD pages to get anything done. All of the sudden MM gets here and within a fortnight we're buzzing.

Is it MM can see the wood for the trees or has Marcus loosened the strings on the bags of conkers? My suspicion is Cleggy has been sent on holiday??

Decent enough signing for me, shows that coming to a club like us is a draw when the parent team is in a mess, players want solid surroundings. Shows Edwards will be a permanent fixture right mid aswell i would imagine, Hope Hewitt is given a chance aswell and that this move will promote healthy competition.

I really hope that he does a job for us - as everyone has already said - MM has seen what we could all see but the last 2 managers couldn't! I'm sure there is a lot of bad blood between him and the supporters over his support for Kean but there seems to be a lot of "good riddance" comments on the Blackburn sites.... Lanacashire Telegraph post: ""Good call" Henning.....Orr was not really good enough." Irrespective of this he deserves a chance and he is saying all the right things. COYB!!!

2 weeks in and Mick's already sorting the basics out...what a waste of 22 months under Jewell.

This is most I have been excited about a signing (excepted DJ Cambell) for a long time. Well done MM.

Welcome to ITFC Bradley. Nice to hear that you really want to play for us. Let the rebuild begin!

Big difference is we have players saying 'they wanted to play for MM as much as come to Ipswich Town' Not many would say - really wanted to play for Roy keane , Paul Jewell etc ... Great stuff -shore up the beach head - Clean sheets all the way soon

I'm excited to be a Town fan for the first time in 5 years. It's such a good feeling and I'm optimistic for the future. Seeing our shambolic defence get sorted out should be music to everyone's ears.

Welcome to Town Bradley.
