Hyam: An Incredible Feeling
Tuesday, 27th Nov 2012 23:49

Midfielder Luke Hyam says scoring his first senior goal for his hometown club was an incredible feeling. The 21-year-old followed up after Nottingham Forest keeper Lee Camp had saved DJ Campbell’s second half penalty to notch Town's second goal in their 3-1 victory.

Former Northgate High School pupil Hyam told the club site: “It was an incredible feeling for me and, as you can see from my celebrations, I lost my head a little bit!

“It was a great feeling personally and also really enjoyable to celebrate with the lads at getting the three points, which is the most important thing.

“All the boys worked extremely hard and I think our performance deserved the win tonight.

"It was nice to get a start and hopefully I have shown the manager what I can do. I want to play games and it’s important to take my chance when I get it.”

Think this is an excellent result and hopefully we can now turn the corner! Some people seem to think it was all down to hyam though..he's a very good player, but lets not ignore the vastly improved team performance!! Well done big mik!

can somebody tell me what ITFC record is like when Hyam plays? i think its actually a really good win ratio???

sounds like we had great balence all over the pitch especially upfront and in midfield.

You certainly grabbed your chance with both hands, you were pulling up trees on that pitch all night long. Cracking finish too, nearly busted the roof of the net.

Well done, Luke.

Just hope everyone continues to back him when things aren't going so well for him. I know why everybody is on his side - I am too - but if he were THAT good, he would've been playing every week, as most managers don't really want to leave their best players out, RK was an exception to this rule, I might add. We've seen him get the runaround in the past, and we will surely see that again, because he's still learning his craft. I've mentioned this before, but people were raving about Drury a few months ago, and most are slagging him recently, or at least mentioning that he's just not up to scratch. I repeat, I really hope for the best for Luke, but he's not a virtuoso player and is likely to have games when he looks a bit rubbish. It would be nice if we can all remember to support him through thick and thin, and not put him under perpetual pressure to be the best thing since sliced bread, once the euphoria of having him on the pitch has worn off a bit. And I really thought N'Daw was all the things we praise Hyam for last night. Really committed and got better as the game went on, and showed a bit of much needed craft too. And I don't care where he's from!

Ipswich 1898 - were you not there on Tuesday? 11 players (plus subs) who were totally committed to the cause, if ever I saw it - defending all over the pitch and the effort was immense throughout the whole 90 mins. Hyam was fantastic and my MOM but there were many others who were close behind. Overall, the best performance I have seen all season.
