Points Haul Highlight of McCarthy's First Month
Thursday, 29th Nov 2012 16:32

Manager Mick McCarthy says picking up 10 points in six games has been the highlight of his first month in charge at Portman Road. The 53-year-old took over at the beginning of November and since then has achieved a record of won three, drawn one and lost two.

Asked what the highlight of his first month at the club had been, McCarthy was in no doubt: “Ten points. If we’d played well and only got three points, it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference, so it’s the results that please me.

“And on the back of that there are other things that have pleased me, but the 10 points in six games is the most pleasing thing.”

He added: “When you come in you hope you win all the games, but it’s unlikely. What did I expect? I don’t know.

“If you'd looked at the games, did I expect to beat Birmingham away? I don’t know. Did I expect to draw with Peterborough? I would like to have won that, but overall 10 points from the games is a good return, there's no doubting that’s a good return from the games.”

Another huge game now on Saturday - Bolton are hitting good form under Dougie freedman so the last thing we need is another big loss - COYB a draw would be a great result and confidence boost - everyone with a bit of Luke Hyam's enthusiasm will do - maybe even a win if that is a case - live the dream!!!

Its great that Mick has got us ten points on the board already in his first month at the club.
The pleasing thing is a lot of those points have been at home in front of the fans.
The thing that pleases me about Mick and Terry is they get down on the training feild with the players and do their own coaching.
They man manage and dont sit in the office all day and let someone else do it .
McCarthy is a very good manager and i bet he know already in his mind who he will be keeping and who he would love to sign to improve the team.
He will at sometime get town promoted to the premier league i have no doubt about that.
We are very lucky to have him at the club because in my mind he should be running a premier league side not a championship side.
I cant help wandering where we would be now if we still had Paul Jewell in charge.
Three points on saturday would be nice but a point would be alright as its a hard game.
Up the table we go town come on you blues.
