Villa Game Close to Sell-Out Monday, 17th Dec 2012 17:22 Town are close to selling out their 2,900 allocation for the FA Cup third round tie at Aston Villa on Saturday 5th January. Tickets go on general sale by phone only from 9am tomorrow with no additional seats being made available.
Ticket office manager John Ford told the club site that the remaining tickets — which include some restricted view seats — will go on sale first thing on Tuesday: “We are closing in on selling out our full allocation of 2,900 tickets.
“We will have tickets on sale tomorrow but all sales will now be via telephone only on 0844 80 11 555, with lines open from 9am.”
Meanwhile, the Town squad celebrated their annual Christmas party in London at the weekend, taking the train back down south from Leeds alongside supporters after Saturday's game, while striker Michael Chopra has tweeted a photo of himself with Bradley Wiggins after the Tour de France victor was named the Sports Personality of the Year last night.

Alfromcol and your counter argument makes absolutely no sense either...my point is that if all these "supporters" that are moaning about not getting tickets there are ways of getting a better chance of securing them by being a member..all the negative marks my post has got clearly is from "supporters" that cant get them.....after a 700 mile round trip on saturday with just a few hundred of us its slightly galling now to have negative comments made when we are going to the games and have got membership.....come back with a creditable argument and you might be worth listening to COYB

Not sure where the allocation is in Villa Park and whether it is simply the case of giving us another unsold section of 1K tickets -with segregation, stewarding, catering etc it may not be easy Imagine if Villa said to us that they would take 2K tickets and then want more - with the way our segregation is organised this would cause a huge mess. Ideally I think that Town should work with Villa to find a more sensible increase in our ticket allocation so we do not pick up the tab in the unsold - surely it makes sense for Villa and Town to find a solution and get as many fans into the ground as possible, How many are we taking to a far more important game against Wolves on the 29th? maybe those who cannot get tickets can go to that game. This is the one I am thinking of going to. There is no fair way to distribute tickets, if I have wanted to watch Town and not wanted to be let down I have always become a season ticket holder + gold member and/ or away match pass holder. Anything less and you should know you are at risk and should plan alternative sources AND not complain when it goes tits up

MickMillsTash - I liked your well thought out post above. Just my personal opinion, but I do think there is a body of lifelong ITFC fans who love the club but for a whole host of legitimate reasons (that have been aired on here before so I won't repeat them) can only get to maybe 5, 6 or 7 games per season, and it's human nature that we'd love to go to this one - along with some less glamorous fixtures over the course of the season. For me, your key comment is: "...Ideally I think that Town should work with Villa to find a more sensible increase in our ticket allocation...". I agree. Are the logistical issues in the stadium and the sale or return issues really so difficult that we can't be allocated a bit more than 2,900 tickets in a 43,000 capacity stadium when there probably won't be an avalanche of demand for tickets from the home fans? Fair comment that the Wolves game might be a good alternative awayday for those who can't get tickets for Villa.

Live 5 miles away... will miss Wolves game as 200 miles away at elderly parents. Complete joke as won't be able to phone up until 11am today and tickets will be gone Oh well, sitting with the Villa fans... one piece of good news is I can probably get a freebie :-)

I know this will attract lots of negatives, as many of the reasoned comments on here have, but why should so many of you non season ticket, non member, once a year away supporters be complaining. You had the same opportunity as the 2900 to get a ticket but didn't commit yourself to the club like they did, so stop whinging. The one that really got me was the guy who gave up his season ticket to play Saturdays and then complains when he can't get a ticket. Get real people! The only types I feel for are those who live away and can't get to many matches but the rest of you, sorry but no sympathy and you should be inward looking rather than scapegoat Clegg again.

lowestoft blue. strange how you not gonna be playing football on the one day we playing an fa cup game against premier opposition!!! while i have some sympathy with you as you given up ur season ticket due to playing, but the fact is that those fans who travel to every away game, will in general be able to go to this one too. much more important as far as im concerned that they get to go rather than fans whove not been to a single away game prior to thi one or for anyone who hasnt been to any games at all this season, home or away.

If 650 on average per away game so 2,900 seems more than appropriate for me. Last time we played at Villa Park I sat in with the Villa fans in the Trinity Road End cos we had sold out and they hadn't, I respected my environment, chatted to the Natives and enjoyed it, if you go in with the right attitude this is a viable option for anyone.

disgusted at the low allocation ordered by our club.. I travel miles and miles to away games as a non gold or whatsoever card holder.. As soon as we get a game where a decent decision is required, I am unable to purchase one ticket.. Had enough!
