McCarthy: No Bid for Wolves Players
Saturday, 29th Dec 2012 06:04

Boss Mick McCarthy says he has not made any approach to Wolves regarding any of his old squad. Midlands reports have repeatedly linked the Town manager with moves for defenders Ronald Zubar and Richard Stearman (pictured), and striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake but the Blues boss says that, so far, no bid has been lodged.

McCarthy said: “I wouldn’t tell you if there had. But there hasn’t been. Like I said, they’re all good pals of mine, Jez Moxey the chief executive is a good friend of mine. But I’ve not discussed business with them, no.”

The Town boss has a lot of time for Moxey, who he says drives hard bargain in the transfer market: “He’s one of the best I’ve seen at it, he’s terrific. I thought he was very, very good at it.”

McCarthy says he has spoken to a few people at Molineux since his exit in February but not from the perspective of doing deals: “On a personal basis, not a business basis, not in terms of Wolves, but Mick McCarthy and people he knows and are his mates.”

He admits though that some of the Wolves players might be out to impress him today with an eye to perhaps linking up with him again at some point in the future: “I think that’s always the case if a manager signs you, trusts you and likes you and the feeling is mutual, which it is with a lot of those players with me.

“But then they’ll not be doing me any favours, there’ll be no love lost on the pitch, that’s for sure.”

Maybe the best signing for town would be moxey, nothing against Clegg but we have missed out on a lot of players for one reason or another.
