Carlos Confident Town Will Bounce Back
Friday, 4th Jan 2013 06:00

Carlos Edwards is confident Ipswich will recover from the setback of losing 3-0 at home to Brighton on New Year’s Day.

Town are on FA Cup duty at Aston Villa this weekend and the skipper sees no point in dwelling on the disappointment of defeat to the Seagulls.

Edwards, 34, said: “It was a big blow. Going into the game all the guys were on a high and confident, looking forward to continuing our good run after our wins at Charlton and Wolves.

“We wanted to kick on but it just wasn’t to be. Brighton were the better team on the day and they took their chances while we didn’t. However, we are still feeling confident about the rest of the season and moving up the league table.”

Edwards welcomes the fact that Town will not be playing for league points on Saturday and likes the idea of progressing in the world’s oldest knock-out competition.

He added: “I like the fact that we are playing in the FA Cup next. It gives the gaffer a bit more time to put things in order for our next league game and also it gives an opportunity to some of the guys who maybe haven’t been playing much lately.

“Also, for some of the guys who have been playing in every game it could be a chance to put our feet up. I’m not saying he is going to make some changes — he might do — but we all have to be on our toes ready to go if required.”

Based on your last 2 performances Carlos, I suggest you get ready to put your feet up.

Carlos really has been disapointing since moving to midfield, he got unfairly slated playing fullback but he performed much better there. He cuts inside too much, doesnt stay wide and never beats a fullback.

Edwards has been the biggest disappointment this season player wise as after moving into midfield his legs look to have gone. No pace whatsoever and a shame that when we were so impressed with him last season he has gone backwards so quickly. He may not even play against Villa
