Duo Cleared to Play
Friday, 4th Jan 2013 17:30

Town have confirmed that new signings David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean have received clearance to play in the FA Cup at Aston Villa tomorrow.

Both strikers and defender Patrick Kisnorbo, who signed on loan from Leeds on Thursday, are included in the squad.

Meanwhile, Mclean told the club site that his loan switch came out of the blue: “The move happened really quickly but obviously I’m delighted to be joining such a good club and hopefully I can help fire Ipswich up the table,.

“I’m eager to be playing games and I’m raring to go. It’s been well publicised that Millwall were interested in me, but then Mick came in and showed an interest and I’m delighted to be joining Ipswich.

“I know the area well as I’ve got a few friends down there who are Ipswich fans themselves and I know a few of the lads in the squad already. I also know Stockers [David Stockdale], Alex Bruce and Liam Rosenior really well from Hull and they all speak positively of the club.

“It’s a loan until the end of the season originally, but you never know what’s going to happen in the future. If everything goes well for all parties then I’m sure me and the gaffer will look at it.”

Both should be match fit especially McGoldrick so I say play both of them against Villa. Have nothing to lose!

Loach
Hewitt, Kisnorbo, Smith, Cresswell
Edwards, N'Daw, Hyam, McLean
Chopra, McGoldrick

Like the look of that side and as Villa are playing Bradford on Tuesday in the League Cup semi final first leg and will not play a full strength side I think we have a great chance of pulling off an upset

How about 1-2 Town

“The move happened really quickly..."

Lovely to read that in respect of an ITFC transfer! It's good to have two new strikers, and at least now we have hit the loan limit any further transfers will need to be permanent signings. The BBC sport website has an article featuring the 'Ipswich Loan Cycle': www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20912757

Is this the same Ipswich I was following three months ago?
Well done to everyone at PR for taking care of business. I am one happy Townie today and I think it's only going to get better.
I'm so happy we got MM and TC in before the managerial merry go round got up to full speed.

If he had played for Coventry then he wouldn't be cleared to play for us. It's not rocket science

@greentractorboy.

What 50yearsablue meant to say was, "No, McGoldrick didn't feature in either of Coventry's FA Cup games against Arlesey and Morecambe." But then we all get a bit grumpier as we get older!

Hate to throw in a negative tone, but I'm gutted that these signings are likely to bring an end to Scotland's time at the club. I feel that he's never let us down, and he'd be in my starting eleven ahead of Chopra every time.

He looks a bit like Mike Tyson and iam sure their wont be many forwards will mess with him.
My only worry is are these players match fit if not they will soon be found out against some of the fit young players that Villa have.
Can you all remember when Orr went straight into the team and was not fit and he had a nightmare first game
Ihope Mick start them on the bench and bring them on in the second half and work on their fitness.
I think McGoldrick should be fit because he has been playing regular for Coventry but i am not sure about the other two thou.

SUPERB way of getting players in without spending millions of Marcus Evans money !!!!
Not like the previous 2 managers ???? Then if they pass the trial all well and good,, and also we will know our position in the league by then,, comfortable mid table I hope ??
Good on ya Mick !!!! COYB !!!

I like that there is an option to buy the player, it's not just another wasteful 6 months of improving someone else's player like we have done. I'd love to see DJ come back i think McGoldrick (if in his Coventry form) and DJ up front could be one of the best partnerships in the league! COYB!
