Symonds and Milne to Be Named Joint MDs
Tuesday, 5th Feb 2013 12:44

TWTD understands that current board members Jonathan Symonds and Ian Milne are set to be named joint-managing directors of Town, in the wake of chief executive Simon Clegg’s departure. The Blues announced Clegg’s exit by mutual consent earlier today with members of the current board and owner Marcus Evans taking on a more hands-on role at Portman Road.

Both Symonds and Milne became directors of Town after Evans’s takeover at the end of 2007.

Symonds, 42, has been the chief information officer of the Marcus Evans Group since 1996 and is responsible for the strategy and the delivery of IT solutions for the Marcus Evans Group.

He has a degree in Business Information Systems and was previously in management roles with Apple Computers, Bacon and Woodrow and Global Communications.

Milne is a 60-year-old qualified solicitor, who joined the Marcus Evans Group in 2000, having previously been with drinks giant Diageo and Revlon International.

At least those who like to moan on here will now have TWO people to blame for anything they don't agree with.

"if ME with these new directors "

eh ?

new directors !

what part of this do you not understand

"TWTD understands that current board members Jonathan Symonds and Ian Milne "

It is quite disturbing how many of our fans don't even know who our directors are - even when it is stated in the story !

Class!! To all you doubters. It's a cut throat business they're in, and Clegg wasn't cuttin it. Knew f..k all about negotiations and dealing with greedy f..k agents. Bring it on the gruesome twosome, a bit of steel and backbone is now in place throughout this club to put us back were we belong. COME ON THE BLUES !!!!!

err, this bit of "steel and backbone" were already in place

they have been here since the 'beginning'

so what is new ?

so did they not oversee Clegg's previous work, transactions, signings etc etc ?

Time will tell with this as with all things - the more I think of this, the more unsure I am, after initially thinking it would be for the better.

True Suffolk / Ipswich Pedigree we need more of - as well as 'money' to go with it of course !!

Where is that potential owner with the above ??

Clegg shouldn't have got rid of Magilton but what's done is done and Mick could be the new Jim hopefully though the people in won't do the same!!!

A bit random this, but I'm still giggling about the story of DJ holding talks with Hull last week, saying he and his reps were going out for lunch, and then effing off to Blackburn, leaving Hull wondering where he'd gone. I have a point here: we all seemed to love DJ, but is this kind of - allegedly - gittish behaviour the kind of thing that Clegg, Jewell, McCarthy, Evans, Uncle Tom Cobbley and all has to put up with all the blooming time? I can quite imagine that it is. I don't know who, if anyone, is to "blame" about whatever it is that we want to blame them for, but I imagine it must be quite difficult being a grown-up with financial restrictions to think about, having to deal with a bunch of footballers and their agents. All the b******s you'd have to deal with. I know it's their job, but I wonder how many of us could do it for 5 minutes without telling the little f****** to get their heads out of their proverbials. In other words, nobody is beyond criticism, but before we wade in, we might just stop for a moment and wonder how good we would be at it. I know that there are plenty of easy responses to my point, whatever it has ended up being, but just thought I'd throw it in there. COYB!

For all we know it was Messrs Symonds and Milne holding all the deals up ?

Wow! Most of you guys have opinions about everything and it seems the less you know about a subject the more you want to opine! Is there an age limit on this site or have I strayed into the sandpit?

How do we know they are not 'football' people
Most teams have a lawyer/ solicitor on the board

I am just reading a book about Terry Venables called the False Messiah. It's about his time as CEO at Spurs, He is a great football man but he was not a great CEO
Very good read.

Mick will hopefully be left in full charge of the football side, as it should be.

Leave business side to the business people, leave the football side to the manager! Simples!

Clegg...Go Riddance...your appointment set Ipswich back years... Ability 0/10, Commitment 1/10, Charisma 0/10, Performance 1/10, Value for Money 0/10, Pleased you are gone 10./10...now time to ditch the other bad apples in the summer and move forward to where this club belongs! MM is a good start

As awful as Clegg was...how can a Chief Information Officer qualify as a MD of a football team...Clegg out but bring in some front office football sense Marcus

A chief information office sounds like a nerdy back office function to me...not the calibre of career progression I'd remotely look out for a front line in a progressive football club which I'm hoping we still are

Is Evans setting things up for a possible sell off of ITFC sometime soon?
