Town Move for Scottish Keeper
Friday, 15th Feb 2013 14:14

Town have made the offer of a contract starting this summer to Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell, according to Killie boss Kenny Shiels. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has won one full Scottish cap.

Shiels revealed that Town had approached the 6ft tall keeper regarding a pre-contract agreement, STV report: "Ipswich Town are in for him and there other clubs that have made approaches from England. I'll sit down with him in March and give him my advice," he said.

"What is said will be personal but wherever he goes he will be first choice, that's guaranteed."

Dumfries-born Bell, who has also held talks with Rangers, has been at Rugby Park since 2002, having previously been a youth player with Queen of the South and Annan Athletic. He has also spent time back on loan with the Doonhamers and Montrose.

Players with less than six months left on their contracts are entitled to speak to other clubs and sign pre-contract agreements.

Presumably he'll make up his mind when he sees which division we're going to be in next season

Can't say i've heard of him or seen him play but a free transfer and probably not on massive wages he'd be well worth a punt.

5' 11" according to the Killie website, surely too small?

Thank you for the clip PJewallisagod. He looks a great keeper from those clips. I still like Loach but he still doesn't make me feel like he's first choice. The keepers position at Portman road has been a bit of a problem since Kelvin Davis left. It would be great to see someone cement the No1 jersey as their own. I hope Loach can prove me wrong.

certainly has good reflexes and is a good shot stopper. Would like t see how he fairs at crosses or dead ball situations . eg can he command his 6 yrd area ? Because all the current GKs we have a fairly good shot stoppers, but equally all are suspect at commanding their 6yrd area!

for me nearly all 'keepers at this level are great shot stoppers, Loach included. what makes a great keeper, though, is decision making and confidence+resilience. in Mick I trust.

Who's this guy?

Loach is a number 2 at best goalkeeper so this is long overdue.

was going down the pan when Kelvin Davies was still here, Loach hasnt shown us enough yet, but has had the chances.. Dont want to be harsh, but the whole squad needs a reality check

If he is 5'8 he is the same height as a Town legend Laurie Sivell

Definatly a good shout. Never been disappointed when I have watched him play for Killie on the box. He is a great shot-stopper, but his distribution is brilliant. Not sure about the commanding of the box, but his communication must have been good, because his defence dealt with every cross on the occaisions I watched him.

The crowds really swarming at Fir Park eh? Maybe they just didn't like the Bell end...and who can blame them?

Mick obviously does not rate Loach and much as I want him to be a Town legend I can't see it happening. Been impressed with what I've seen of Bell for Killie but now all and sundry have been alerted doubtful we will get him.
