McCarthy Has High Hopes for Nouble Thursday, 21st Feb 2013 06:00 Boss Mick McCarthy says he has high hopes for striker Frank Nouble, who joined the Blues from Wolves for an undisclosed fee in January, signing an 18-month contract. The 21-year-old has so far made six substitute appearances for his new club.
McCarthy said: “I hope we turn him into a player. I think Terry Connor will have a lot to do with it because he worked with him a lot when they were at Wolves.
“I actually was trying to sign him for Wolves before I left and Terry followed it up and did and worked with him there.
“Terry’s excellent working with the centre-forwards. There’s more to him than a big, strong lad that goes on [as sub]. He’s better than that.
“I think he’s got to play to that, to his strengths, but I think he’s a better footballer than that, I think he’s got a lot to offer us.”
He says the one-time Chelsea trainee, who spent time with West Ham before his short-lived move to Molineux in the summer, has the right attitude: “He wants to do well. He’s really ambitious.
“If you look at where he’s been, he’s been to so many clubs out on loan. He’ll admit himself that they put him in the team and he’s done all right and then he hasn’t done all right and they see this big, quick guy that should be this, that and the other and isn’t quite what they think, and then he gets sent back and he doesn’t get worked with.
“We’re working with him and hopefully we’ll get the benefit from him. He’s a great kid and he really wants to do well.”

Other point on JET I remember reading that TC and MM were looking at him as more of a striker than an Attacking Mid - one reason , maybe as a midfielder he does absolutely no tracking back and his work rate is poor - Every game they have stats on players work rate etc and anyone of us who has seen him play would certainly not say he is a 'good team player ' a maverick - with not much end product - He is so frustrating - cos if he just put effort in - the easier part maybe ? , he could be a good asset - not not sure he the fire in his belly to roll his sleeves up . Funnily enough - I said before game on Tues I wanted to see him on the bench on T - without Wordy -he may have added something ? but it seems he does just not show it to MM and TC in training - as Churchill said 'Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference '

At the moment MM puts in "Big" Frank to chase the ball and put tiring defenders under pressure. Even though he is a striker, I believe MM asks him to do a certain job late in games. As for JET, the gauntlet was thrown down to him to prove himself with the introduction of McGoldrick, Nouble, Murphy & McLean. Lets hope JET can burst onto the team and provide that something special he produced at stages last season.

JET and Nouble are complete write offs. Just a waiting game until real strikers are brought to the club.

For those that question what MM see's in him. Might I point out that is why he has had long distinguished career in football and none of you have?

Michael11 Yes half of Campbell's goals came from pens. Why then have we not had a single penalty since he left? I'd say our midfield were creating chances certainly before the New Year. IMO the fault lies with the N'Daw Hyam partnership, but Hey Ho, what do I know

Disagree with those re JET. He has been very lazy and needs to work harder. Nouble may be a decent player for us ... but has been hit and miss. Looked good against Blackpool, lost against Watford. MM demands 100% effort. Quite rightly so. Unless JET gives his all he has been rightly dropped IMO. Would prefer to see player who try, than those who are very lazy.

Nouble puts in twice the effort of JET and could be a star of next season under TC's coaching. Providing he wants to learn. If JET doesn't break back into the team soon, I think his days at PR are numbered.

The McCarthy / Connor team have worked wonders since their arrival but I do feel that it was a big mistake to bring in Frank Nouble and to release Jason Scotland.

Michael11 - when you refer to writing Nouble off and defend him by saying he doesn't get any service....................is this the same service that DJ Campbell didn't get?

We are just going to trust Mick on him, he works hard enough and did save us a couple of points with his against the odds goaline clearance.

What I've seen of him I'm impressed with the Lad, OK here hasn't scored many Goals in his Career so far, but his been shipped out a few times on loan and he's not started many games either for his previous clubs, I think he's got a lot of potential. I wish a certain Mr Thomas show's his Potential as well at somepoint
