Wordsworth Hoping for Early Return
Tuesday, 12th Mar 2013 17:16

Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is hoping to be back in contention for the Easter fixtures at home to Leeds United and at Millwall. The 24-year-old has been out of action since cracking three vertebrae in the 1-0 victory over Blackpool, his first start since joining the Blues from Colchester in January.

Wordsworth wasn't expected to be able to do any training for six weeks and seemed set to miss the rest of the season but told the club site that he is making quicker progress than had been anticipated: “Hopefully I’ll be back on the training pitch doing some light running next week and then step it up from there.

“If all goes well, I’d like to be back and available for the Easter games against Leeds and Millwall.

“The specialist said it would be six to eight weeks before I was running again, but the physios have been brilliant here and they are the reason I’m ahead of schedule.

“I’ve been doing Pilates, had acupuncture and a lot of massaging as well and it’s worked really well and I just can’t wait to get back out on the pitch.

“It’s the first real injury I’ve had in my career and it was devastating when it happened. I was making my first start for the team and just getting into the game.

“I went for a cross from Murph, the defender spun me around and the keeper caught me. I wanted to carry on but the pain was terrible. I don’t know why I tried to play on really — I was just so disappointed I suppose.”

Meanwhile, Bolton look set to have keeper Adam Bogdan back in contention for Saturday’s game at Portman Road having been missing for their last two league matches against Blackburn Rovers and Brighton with a groin injury.

the championship is a crazy league, Burnley in 11th could still go down! they are just 9 points from safety, yet i a sure their fans are only looking at the play offs.. they could be in for a big surprise if the teams below them keep picking up points. Any team mid table that has a poor run now is in trouble!

Never seen a league so tight as this one so many teams could find themselves in deep water if they lose a couple of games and the bottom 6 get wins. Very concerned that Mick seems to think draws will save us think last night result prove that winning is the only sure way of staying in this division. We need to start knocking the goals in or we are in trouble again I hate to say.

In such a tight league, goal difference could kill us.
