Trinidad and Tobago Reach Quarter-Finals Tuesday, 16th Jul 2013 09:19 Skipper Carlos Edwards will remain with the Trinidad and Tobago squad at the CONCACAF Gold Cup for a bit longer after the Soca Warriors made it through to the quarter-finals via a 2-0 victory over 10-man Honduras overnight. Edwards came on as a 71st minute sub to win his 86th full cap. Kenwyne Jones and Kevin Molino netted the Trinidad and Tobago goals after the Hondurans had had Jose Velasquez sent off for a reckless tackle in the 37th minute. With El Salvador beating Haiti in the other group game, Edwards’s side jumped from bottom of the group to second ahead of the Central Americans on goals scored. Honduras won the group despite last night’s defeat. It’s only the second time the Soca Warriors have made the Gold Cup quarter-final stage. Trinidad and Tobago now face Mexico in Atlanta on Saturday, meaning Edwards will miss Saturday’s Town friendly at Barnet in addition to tonight’s game at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium (KO 7.30pm).
