McKenna Some Bookies' Favourite For Brentford Job Thursday, 12th Jun 2025 22:55 Town boss Kieran McKenna is some bookies’ early favourite for the vacant Brentford job following confirmation that Thomas Frank has taken charge at Tottenham Hotspur, but with little real clarity on who the Bees’ next head coach might be.
McKenna’s close friend Justin Cochrane, who was head of coaching/assistant first-team coach at the Gtech Community Stadium, had been odds-on to replace Frank but instead has joined the Dane at Spurs as his assistant.
That has seen McKenna replace him as the favourite with some bookmakers, ranked at 5-4 on by BetVictor and 20-17 on by Paddy Power at time of writing.
However, former Blues loanee Keith Andrews, currently Brentford’s set-piece coach, is the 11-10 on favourite with Bet365 and there appears little solid information on who might emerge as the leading contenders.
Burnley boss Scott Parker, who saw the Clarets back into the Premier League in 2024/25, is reported to be one of three on a shortlist by some sources, but it appears the Bees’ search for a new head coach is in its very early stages at present.
Blues manager McKenna committed his future to the Blues on a couple of occasions towards the end of the season and as it stands there seems little beyond speculation linking him with a move away from Portman Road this summer.

Don't see it myself, I just can't see Brentford matching or bettering Mckennas current salary. Hopefully they will keep it in house and offer it to Keith Andrews.

With the loss of their excellent manager and probably a couple of their best players (Mbeumo?), Brentford might well be relegation candidates next season.

GForce. And what makes you think an established pl vlub couldn't match the wages we can offer? Plus it not necessarily all about money for Mckenna. Managing in the pl again could well be enough to convince him to go. Hope he doesn't, but will wish him well if he should decide thats what he wants to do.

I won't be partaking in all this waffle this season. Would love to see him stay (I think he will), but he moves on - it'll work out I'm sure. We're in good hands either way.

Please please go and take the useless rubbish you bought last season with you

Is the man too arrogant not to admit his mistakes in the prem, only one way of playing, constant rotation, favourites, poor signings.Strange that no backing from Ashton or the Americans. If he goes wish him all the best for the two promoted years but clearly out of his depth in the prem.

Whatever happens and I don’t really have a preference if Kieran stays or goes, I hope a decision is made very soon. Another disrupted pre-season is not required. New players need to be brought in very soon. I’m sure lots is going on behind the scenes but to date all we have are several exits with no incomings. The new season is only a few weeks away.

Mbueno to join Spurs, Sissa will move on, without Frank the will struggle. BFC is a poisoned chalice in th emaking IMO. After last season I don't think Kierans stock is that high, so I don't think either part will fanc this.

His wages will be a problem. If we blew Brighton out of the water, and made him one of the higher paid managers in the league, and in Europe by definition, that won’t be easy. They’ll have a structure and Brighton didn’t see the value in an untried manager at this level, and they were proven right. I can’t see him staying though, Palace was very close, it looks like he agreed terms with Brighton. People seem to forget Ashton couldn’t keep him, the owners had to fly in to make assurances on the £150 million investment, and his new salary. That indicates he’d agreed the Brighton deal, and we paid more. Brighton were the only club that spent more than us last summer, so clearly our salary offer was higher. Personally, I don’t want a manger to stay for the money. McKenna is ambitious, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but let’s be candid, there’s no loyalty in football. For the investment we made last summer, we could have done a lot better, that’s just the reality. We can lose McKenna and still move forwards as a club, to me that’s a huge positive. We wouldn’t have said that 12 months ago, but the futures bright, it turns out he’s not yet at the level to move us significantly forwards, so if he go’s, thanks for two great seasons, the hard work, and best of luck…., we are bigger than any manager, and won’t be short of talented options.

Proabably a good move for McKenna career wise and he will be in the premiership next season so good luck to him if does go, we will find another to get ITFC promoted next season.

This needs to be sorted quickly one way or the other. If he goes we can then seek a new manager quickly to enable the signing of new players for next season.

All this… “I’d wish him well rubbish!!” Ffs. Keane was right about one thing, Town fans are way too nice for their own good! He’d be a boat jumping rat if he left us for Brentford right now…

Amazing how fickle our fans can be... The reality is that all 3 teams promoted went down. We finished above Leeds & Sunderland who are going up now and Sheffield U came down that year. Staying up would have been like 3 promotions in a row. Not many achieve that. Hell stay and we'll fight to go up again. We need more players in key positions and a positive fan base will help the owners want to invest.

This needs sorting this week one way or the other...got sick of it a year ago,he was persuaded to stay by giving him a small fortune...I know things are different these days & loyalty seems a distant memory but i'd like to think we have someone in charge who actually wants to be here & not this constant "will he won't he" attitude going on everytime a job comes up...not good for the club or the fans.

A few posters on here are under the misguided impression that they are better informed than the current management team at Brentford. They are an established Premier League club, been there a few years now, and finished 10th. I’d say, if, and I mean if, this is true, Brentford’s CEO etc, will be using their Premier League knowledge to choose their next manager. That said, if their opinion is that McKenna is their first target, then that knocks all the doubters opinions on here into touch. I think they would know better, don’t you! I personally hope McKenna stays, in my opinion, he’d be a very hard act to follow.

Legend.!! I think and hope he'll stay. He has done wonders for our club. I think it's probably 1 more season to see how it goes this season and where he goes next depends on what happens.

Lightning... Your right that I dreamt one day the club would get someone in who our fans could unite behind and get the club out of L1... Then dream then moorfed into promotion from the Champ as well... I'd rather be a dreamer than an ego maniac, who wants to forget the last 2 years and just moan about what they see as the future... My suggestion is to grow up, put ointment on your zits and try and get a girlfriend... If all that fails to cheer you up, maybe ditch the hush puppies and get a pair of trainers....
