McGoldrick Championship Player of the Month Friday, 4th Oct 2013 06:15 Town striker David McGoldrick has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for September. The 25-year-old beat fellow nominees Robert Green of QPR, Burnley’s Jason Shackell and Danny Guthrie from Reading. Manager Mick McCarthy said: “I’m delighted Dids has won it, he’s thoroughly deserved it. He’s been outstanding, he really has. “They all set high standards for themselves. He’s not happy with how he played on Tuesday night. But I thought he had a great first half, personally. “That’s nice when he’s won that and he’s still not happy with how he’s played all the time. Setting high standards is great.” McGoldrick, who signed a two-year permanent deal in the summer following a loan spell last season, previously picked up last December’s League One Player of the Month award for his displays while on loan with Coventry. The last Town player to win the award was another striker, Connor Wickham, in February 2011. Photos: Action Images/ITFC
