Kingstonian Confirm Sweeney Trial
Friday, 4th Oct 2013 21:42

Kingstonian have confirmed that 19-year-old midfielder or defender Dan Sweeney has spent this week on trial with the Blues.

The former AFC Wimbledon youngster is now back with his club and will play in their Ryman League Premier Division game at Billericay Town on Saturday.

Kingstonian manager Alan Dowson said: "Dan is a talented lad and has developed well since he came to us in the spring. It's inevitable that there are pro clubs looking at him.

“He's still only 19 but is a regular member of the first team and has played an important part in our season so far.

“Any arrangements would have to take that into account but it's still very early and his focus is on our game tomorrow."

It’s understood that Sweeney will again train with the Town squad at Playford Road next week.

I am assured from someone who has seen him that this guy is a very good prospect. Maybe why he is back next week. Good to see we are keeping a close eye on up and coming youngsters in the lower leagues.
