Hewitt's Gills Win
Tuesday, 26th Nov 2013 21:42

On-loan Elliott Hewitt played the full 90 minutes as Gillingham beat Stevenage 3-2 at the Priestfield Stadium in League One this evening.

The 19-year-old was utilised in defensive central midfield role rather than his usual right-back position as manager Peter Taylor switched to a 4-5-1 formation.

Hewitt is with the Gills until December 14th with Town having a 24-hour recall option after the first 28 days.

The Wales U21 international has now made three appearances for the Kent club since joining them a fortnight ago.

Online reports say Harriman played at right back for the Gills, so where is Hewitt playing? Left back? Right mid?

To answer my own question, holding midfield apparently.

A defensive midfield role, according to Gillingham's site, will add to the above.

Playing defensive midfield?...you'd think as a young proficient RB he'd actually be playing in that position for a League 1 outfit! helps us fitness wise for the lad but not for the experience of playing in the position we'd like him to be in.

...... not a MM type player unfortunately - far too much flair, and likes to overlap and get forward - shock, horror - that's not in the script !!
