Chambers Looking Forward to Busy Christmas Tuesday, 17th Dec 2013 06:00 Luke Chambers insists he and his Town team-mates are relishing the thought of a busy Christmas period that will see them play four games in the space of nine days. Town are at Doncaster on Boxing Day and Bournemouth on Sunday 29th December, before Charlton are the visitors to Portman Road on New Year’s Day and Preston are in town on FA Cup third round business on Saturday 4th January. Far from seeing the seasonal fixture glut as a turn-off, however, Chambers said: “I love playing games and I really like it when there are three games in a week. You do get tired but it gives you an opportunity to take nine points, as we have done. “It keeps the season moving along instead of having breaks like we do for the international fixtures. It’s always nice to have a break but when there are a lot of games coming up the lads do relish it. “Everyone is together a lot more and you’ve got to enjoy it because once the football has gone you won’t be seeing much of that any more.” Chambers also appreciates the opportunity to share the Christmas spirit with those far less fortunate and added: “It’s brilliant. I went to the St Elizabeth Hospice on Tuesday and it was the best reaction I have had in my career from that sort of thing. “It brightened everyone’s day up and I think it’s brilliant that we can have such an effect in cheering people up. These people are in difficult positions but it’s fantastic to put a smile on their faces, especially when things are a little bit down.”
