Chambers Looking Forward to Busy Christmas
Tuesday, 17th Dec 2013 06:00

Luke Chambers insists he and his Town team-mates are relishing the thought of a busy Christmas period that will see them play four games in the space of nine days.

Town are at Doncaster on Boxing Day and Bournemouth on Sunday 29th December, before Charlton are the visitors to Portman Road on New Year’s Day and Preston are in town on FA Cup third round business on Saturday 4th January.

Far from seeing the seasonal fixture glut as a turn-off, however, Chambers said: “I love playing games and I really like it when there are three games in a week. You do get tired but it gives you an opportunity to take nine points, as we have done.

“It keeps the season moving along instead of having breaks like we do for the international fixtures. It’s always nice to have a break but when there are a lot of games coming up the lads do relish it.

“Everyone is together a lot more and you’ve got to enjoy it because once the football has gone you won’t be seeing much of that any more.”

Chambers also appreciates the opportunity to share the Christmas spirit with those far less fortunate and added: “It’s brilliant. I went to the St Elizabeth Hospice on Tuesday and it was the best reaction I have had in my career from that sort of thing.

“It brightened everyone’s day up and I think it’s brilliant that we can have such an effect in cheering people up. These people are in difficult positions but it’s fantastic to put a smile on their faces, especially when things are a little bit down.”

Really nice not to have to go into the Xmas break with the shadow of relegation hanging over us.

Really proud of our team this season. It's good to be able to say I am an Ipswich fan again. The ribbing I have had the last few years has been awful.

2 signings in Jan and we could be looking towards a play-off spot

Yep a few signings in January would be good - but didn't MM say he was expecting 'a quiet' transfer window?
Doncaster game will be a toughy as they haven't been bad at home and turned QPR over there. Looking forward to the festive period o games and if all goes well in a short period of time we could be actually be in the play-offs but that's a bit forward looking.

I assume he means quiet, as opposed to silent. Maybe a few deals. Hunt extended, ebanks-blake (if we get our man) and another if the right person becomes available.
