Edwards Interesting Wolves
Monday, 6th Jan 2014 12:42

Town skipper Carlos Edwards is reportedly a loan target of League One title challengers Wolves.

The 35-year-old, who previously spent time on loan at Molineux in the 2008/09 season when a Sunderland player, made only his eighth start of the campaign in Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Preston.

The Trinidad and Tobago international is out of contract at the end of the season and given his lack of involvement seems unlikely to be offered new terms.

Edwards joined the club in the summer of 2009 when the Blues, then managed by his former Black Cats boss Roy Keane, paid the Wearsiders a fee of £1.35 million.

No doubt in my mind that Edwards was perhaps the only decent signing from Roy Keane. £1.35M well spent as Carlos has served us well. However, it is perhaps now time for both parties to move on. Carlos would be a good addition for Wolves, but sadly can't see him playing regularly for us anymore.

Some respect should be shown. He's been a perfect pro for the club and although he is nearing the end of his time at ITFC has shown nothing but class. I've met him and he is not just a gentleman but a tremendous ambassador for the club. Good on you Carlos.

He is still a quality Player and is seriously much, much, much better than Anderson.
Would still play Carlos on a regular basis.
He is technically very good, faster than most, and also chips in with some goals (some of them sublime) from midfield...... whatever happened to goals from midfield?

Can't see Stearman coming the other way as said Edwards has served us well and for a season or two seemed to be our stand out player particularly under Jewell.

Good pro but we really need a MF who can score or create as a replacement
Great servant

Cannot fault his commitment to the club and he's been a good servant, was regularly played out of position but never sulked and tried his best. For that I thank you Carlos.

However football is a results-based business. As harsh as this may sound, I value the success of the team over loyalty to our players. And I can honestly say Carlos is not good enough any more to take us higher in this division - and frankly hasn't been for the last couple of years, regardless of how poor the manager was at whatever time.

So I hope someone comes in for him so he can see out his career and feel valued for a little bit longer. And I hope maybe we offer him a role when he hangs up his boots, maybe as a scout or youth coach as he deserves that.

I for one would be sorry to see him go. Genuine nice man, clearly someone who has donned our jersey with pride...and an excellent example on how to carry yourself with dignity. The only survivor from the Keane era as well so this shows the esteem he is held. He can still offer us us quality that others are currently lacking ....don't let him go.

It was fantastic the way he held us together through trying times from the full back position. Legend.

His best years are long gone. If he can be a makeweight in getting Stearman it would be good business. better still take frank back to Wolves. He will never make it.

He'd still be in my starting 11 every week if playing 4-4-2. Miles better than Anderson, the only player willing to run at defences. Really hope he stays and gets back in the team. Played great against Blackburn and got dropped.
Great servant aswell

Carlos in my opinion was a very good right back for us, always thought he was unfairly criticised in that position. Wide midfield he is simply awful as all our so called wingers are, nobody takes on his man and they don't stay wide providing width

Would not like to see this happen - Still fit and has plenty to
offer us - Age is just a number.

Would also offer him another year

I would like him to stay for the rest of the season. He brings some stability and experience to the squad in the bonkers world of Championship football.

Bad full-back, indifferent winger. Probably do alright at a lower level.

I'm that convinced that Carlos would even consider moving to the Midlands. His family are very settled in Ipswich.

Great servant for the Town, if he leaves he should get a decent farewell from us I think. He deserves it

Great ambassador as well for the Italian branch of ITFC - all round good guy and great player and should be kept on as an example of how to represent with aplomb and class your club side.

Michael Chopra fined £10,000 after slating training at Blackpool - Striker tweets that session is a joke.
Chopra for Edwards anyone ? 2 completely different examples on how to conduct yourself as a pro football player.

He has been a really good signing for Town, always gave his all & even took a pay cut to sign a new contract. We need those type of players at the cloud. The only two negatives were being played out of position by two poor managers & being a tit & getting disqualified from driving.
