Friday for Forest Tie
Friday for Forest Tie
Friday, 10th Jan 2014 15:28

Town’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Nottingham Forest will take place on Friday 24th January with an 8pm kick-off if the Blues beat Preston in next Tuesday’s third round replay at Deepdale.

The scheduling is due to Forest’s close neighbours Notts County being in league action on the Saturday and is on police advice.

Tickets for the Forest game will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for over-65s and under-18s.

Absolutely crazy. What's wrong with moving it to Sunday?!! Not everyone can get supporters coaches and it's tricky getting to away games up north which have evening kick off times as trains stop quite early.

Surely this doesn't mean the reading game goes ahead on the Saturday aswell does it?

Has the FA got a grudge going with ITFC. 2 away games over Christmas at opposite ends of the country and now this, a Friday night up in Nottingham. I don't think the players or Club want to beat Preston anyway so it probably won't happen, After all it is only the FA cup and Ipswich obviously don't need the extra games or revenue it will bring in to the club!;)

"The scheduling is due to Forest's close neighbours Notts County being in league action on the Saturday."

Does anyone in football have any sense of geography? Notts County are playing Walsall on that Saturday. I'm sure it would be of far less inconvenience to Walsall fans to travel across the Midlands on a Friday night than it is to send Ipswich Town fans half the way up the country to Nottingham, and I doubt it would suit Preston fans either.

Absolute joke of a decision, as everyone has pointed out, Sunday 3pm would be much more convenient, i was thinking about going if we beat Preston but would be unlikely now if it was Friday, terrible decision.

Hardly an incentive to beat Preston is it?

Might have something to do with us having Leeds away on the Following Tuesday

Not only this, but if we get through Reading at home on the Saturday will be postponed and rearranged for midweek. Not bad for those living in Ipswich .... Not so good for those who travel a distance! The incentive to get past Preston is none!

..and they wonder why the fa cup is not looked on as before..a lower league game getting precident over an fa cup game involving two championship sides!!...but on a separate point every game we want to win so why is it pointless to beat Preston to ensure reading fans don't have to travel mid week???.....(jas0999).
..knew we were a family club but that sort of accommodating is surely beyond expectations

And, of course, there's not enough Police in Nottinghamshire for them to control 2 games of football. Such a hard life being a copper these days!
