Palace Still Interested in McGoldrick
Friday, 31st Jan 2014 11:34

TWTD understand that Crystal Palace have continued to show interest in Blues striker David McGoldrick during the final week of the transfer window.

The Eagles were linked with Town’s 26-year-old top scorer a fortnight ago and are the club most likely to make a move for McGoldrick prior to the January transfer window’s closure at 11pm tonight.

Last night, Swansea were reported to be ready to make a deadline day offer for McGoldrick, who has scored 14 goals this season, although they are now understood to have made a bid of £2.5 million for another striker, Leicester’s Jeffrey Schlupp.

The Blues were claimed to have put a price of £4 million on McGoldrick, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, reportedly the subject of a rebuffed Town loan bid earlier in the week, is at QPR and is set to join them on loan.

At least we won't be getting Doyle in now, doubt McGoldrick will go, unless like it states they are willing to slap a 4m bid on the table, which we can't really refuse.

We should get at least £45M for him.

DM has been our standout player in numerous games this season. If he goes, I for one will forget about the playoffs. If he is allowed to go, I question the seriousness of ME in his quest for promotion to the Premiership.

It can only be ITFC on deadline day never fails. If 2 of our lads go we will be left with a few hours to bring in panic signings or get cast offs from other clubs.Im not saying MM is not on the phone all day as we will be told but clubs have been doing deals for the last 2 weeks and some very good deal have gone through. Not again town please..

LordMamu - Maybe we were never actually in for Frimpong? Does anybody know for definate that we were?

With tunnicliffe gone im more concerned on the CM options and were the creativity is going to come form. I know we have needed a player like this for sometime but to be honest so is every club and i really dont see too many of those players about at the moment. We should have gone for Nahki Wells.

ME and Mick will have a plan - just waiting on moves up the chain before they pounce and bring in the quality we need....

McGoldrick is our best player by far but he will be gone if a good offer comes in. I have no doubt about that. The club is in a poor financial state and he is one of only a few players that can generate that sort of money for the club.

Quite agree Alfromcol.I have been wondering exactly how ME sees things. The delay in paying bills could mean that club is in a more parlous state than is realised generally.
ME appears to have turned the tap off completely where funds are concerned;so it is difficult to see how he can hope to get us in the Premiership even with a manager as good as MM with the present policy, with gates continuing to fall.
Rumours keep on about him wanting to sell the club, and he also has the training ground on the edge of the town, which if some were released for building land would enable him to recoup his money that way.
I do however hope that he is still committed to the club and getting it into the Premier League like the rest of us;but this wont be achieved by selling our best player however much we get for Didsy.
Far better to sign him on a longer contract NOW!

........ not at all surprised - but what we do without him, I hate to think !!

Just the player we need to keep at all cost - and add to / compliment - NOT LOSE.

He could be playing for teams that provide him with far better service than what he gets here tho' - and patience can wear thin !!

Don't go Dids, Palace are tin pot, clinging on to survival. We are a bigger club & when we get back to the Prem, it will be apparent. Pulis already raided our previous best player, I am starting to dislike that man!
