Southend Friendly Confirmed
Monday, 2nd Jun 2014 18:17

Town’s pre-season friendly at Southend United has been set for Tuesday 29th July (KO 7.45pm).

The Blues were last at Roots Hall in pre-season ahead of the 2012/13 campaign when they lost 2-1 to the Shrimpers, who finished fifth in League Two during 2013/14 before being beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Burton Albion.

You can find a list of all Town’s pre-season games announced so far here.

Meanwhile, former Town manager Joe Royle has been confirmed as a member of new Norwich City boss Neil Adams’s backroom staff, taking on a role as a football consultant. Royle, 65, was a striker with the Canaries late in his playing career.

Another ex-Blues manager, Roy Keane, has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Celtic job having held informal talks. Keane will continue in his role as Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland assistant.

Elsewhere, Blues keeper Michael Crowe was an unused sub as the Wales U19s beat Greece 3-0 in the final game of their Euro 2014 elite qualifying group in Portugal.

The Welsh youngsters, who are coached by ex-Town midfielder Geraint Williams, finished second in the group but don't qualify for July's finals in Hungary.

..... the only time the punter matters is when you go thro' the turnstile, or the Season Ticket renewal drops on the mat.

Do you really think we're considered any other time ? - of course not.
