McCarthy Prepared to Wait on Loans
Thursday, 12th Jun 2014 15:42

Boss Mick McCarthy expects to have to wait until late in the summer before Premier League youngsters are made available for loan. As was the case last year, Town’s summer business is likely to centre around the Bosman and loan markets.

“The players that will be involved in the World Cup will need a break so Premier League clubs will take all their best youngsters with them on tour and keep them through pre-season,” McCarthy explained to the club site.

“They will look at their young players and see if they are good enough to be involved next season, or whether they will benefit from going out on loan.

“There are definitely loan deals to be had with Premier League clubs and I don’t want to miss out on some of the good, exciting talent that could be available.

“Look at Jonny Williams and the impact he made here last season. How good would that be for us if we could get in a player of that standard on loan here?”

“It’s something that we are looking at and working towards, but it may require a bit of patience.”

The summer has got off to a quiet start with Town's only additions so far the signings of youngsters Darren McQueen and Ben Wyatt following their release by Tottenham and Norwich respectively.

Well at least he is not using pay day loans to buy the squad, if he is prepared to wait.

I keep telling you, ME is making plenty of money from interest on the loan so it suits him for us to stay in this league. 9th next season.

Gazelle, your post makes no sense. ME owns and controls the Marcus Evans Group of companies. One of the entities in this Group of Companies is ITFC. ITFC operates at a loss and requires regular inflows of working capital to sustain its viability. This capital is provided by ME through another of his Group Companies. This may well be by way of a loan and for accounting and tax reasons may well attract interest. But as ME as owner of The ME Group of Companies he is the one who ultimately carries the ITFC losses and interest I can't see why you would think that it is in his interest for the club to remain a mid table club in the Championship. The only way he is ever going to recoup anything on his investment is if the club is successful.
