Squad Back at Playford Road Friday, 27th Jun 2014 10:59 The Town squad are back at Playford Road this morning for the start of pre-season training. The players will be weighed and take part in the traditional bleep test before the pre-season programme begins in earnest on Monday. Striker Daryl Murphy is over the thigh injury which saw him miss the Republic of Ireland's final two friendlies earlier in the summer and will start pre-season with the rest of the squad. Physio Matt Byard told the club site: “Murph felt a niggle when he was warming up during the match against Italy. “He trained on the Monday after and felt it again so I spoke to the Irish doctor and he was withdrawn from the squad for the trip to the US. “We have been doing some work with him over the last three weeks and the injury has settled down now. He is fit and well and ready to start pre-season next week.” The Blues will spend a week in Ireland at the Carton House hotel where they spent time last summer - and where Mick McCarthy has previously taken his Sunderland and Wolves squads - prior to their first pre-season friendly against Shelbourne at Tolka Park, Dublin on Saturday 12th July. This morning has seen the squad try out their new adidas training gear for the first time.
