Ambrose Has Unfinished Business
Thursday, 11th Sep 2014 12:50

Darren Ambrose says he has unfinished business at Town having joined the Blues for a third spell earlier today. The midfielder has penned a short-term deal until January.

The 30-year-old came through the academy and had just established himself in the first team when he was sold to Newcastle for £1 million with the club desperately needing to raise cash during 2003’s administration.

The Harlow-born midfielder returned to the Blues for two months on loan from Charlton during 2008/09 but failed to win an extended stay.

Having left Birmingham in June he came back to Playford Road towards the end of August and featured in a couple of U21 matches.

“I’d been on to my agent to try and get me a chance to train with Ipswich and the gaffer invited me down here for a few weeks,” Ambrose explained to the club site.

“I have felt good here and the manager pulled me on Tuesday and said the club would be offering me something.

“I couldn’t be happier, to be honest. It’s a great club and I feel like I have unfinished business here.

“I have said before that I left too young and then when I came back here on loan things didn’t really go as well as I had hoped for.

“Now I’m back for a third time and I’m really looking forward to it. I want to succeed here. That’s the target and I’m confident I can achieve that.”

..... a classy performer in his time undoubtedly, and maybe still capable - but here for the 3rd time ??

Let's hope he gets the chance to prove himself - and gives it his very best.

Time, Opportunity, and Performance - will all be telling points.

Let's hope it works out.

I'll judge Ambrose by what he does on the pitch when and if he gets a chance. Not by what he says. Too many players say the right things but just don't deliver the goods.

Yeah talk is cheap when it comes to footballers, do your talking on the pitch...hopefully MM will still pursue at least 1 premiership midfield loanee in the weeks ahead otherwise there's going to be many on here feeling we've been short changed (again).

As we all know Mick likes workhorse type players, whether Darren has the legs to do this in midfield now is the major question, I can see Mick using him as a bit part player at best.

Abujablue, I was also unhappy, at the time, with what I thought was letting him go on the cheap!
