Collison: Jonny Will Bring Magic to Team
Tuesday, 30th Sep 2014 06:00

Recent recruit Jack Collison has spoken for the first time about the prospect of teaming up with Welsh international colleague Jonny Williams during their time together at Portman Road.

The midfield pair (pictured above playing for Wales) were reunited at Town this week when Williams, who scored once in 13 Championship appearances last season, returned on loan from Crystal Palace.

They will be together until the end of the year, former West Ham favourite Collison having signed a short-term deal until late December while Williams’s temporary spell is due to end in January.

Watford-born Collison, who will be 26 on Thursday, is thrilled to have been fixed up following his release by the Hammers at the end of last season and even more so by the thought of possibly lining up alongside good friend Williams.

Collison said: “Everybody knows about Jonny and what a good player he is. He came here last season and did so well.

“I think he really enjoyed it because whenever I’ve spoken to him about his time at Ipswich he has always said he has fond memories of it. He’s back now and he’ll be looking to recapture his form of last season.

“He’s one hell of a player and I think he would fit in well wherever he went — not just in the Championship but at Premier League level. For him it’s about getting minutes on the pitch and showing everyone how good he is.

“There’s no doubt about his ability and I’m sure he is going to bring a bit of magic to the team.

“He’s a great lad who works hard and he’s also good off the pitch. You look at the team that the manager has built here and they are all great characters. They made me feel welcome from day one and with Jonny they are pleased to have him back.

“He’s another big character and hopefully we can bond well together. It’s a long season and we’re looking to do well.”

Its a long time since i have heard "Ipswich" and "magic" in the same sentence. The days of Marcus Stewart / David Johnson/Jamie Scowcroft; Dozzell/Kiwomya/Goddard; Mariner/Brazil/ Gates may be recaptured till Jonny goes again. But they did it in the Prem and equivalent

Great to hear players coming in talking about how good a club Ipswich is, how much they enjoy it here and to hear that players talk with each other about how good a time they have with Ipswich. Great for the possibility of attracting players in the future.

Talk is all too cheap Collison - just make sure you're fit and ready to play if selected - and do try to keep away from the treatment table far more in the future. That would do nicely thanks.

therein61 ................ talk is non productive (see where that gets us in the League table) - but action / actually doing is productive. You obviously have overlooked, or don't understand, that for whatever reason.
