Hunt Joining Town On Loan
Wednesday, 26th Nov 2014 15:25

TWTD understands that Leeds striker or winger Noel Hunt is expected at Town on Thursday morning to complete the formalities on a loan deal through to January, the clubs having agreed terms. The switch is with a view to a permanent move.

Earlier this afternoon, reports in Yorkshire revealed that the Blues had made an approach for Hunt, a long-time target of Town boss Mick McCarthy. In September, TWTD reported that the Blues manager had been keen on signing the 31-year-old - the younger brother of winger Stephen Hunt - earlier in the summer.

Hunt junior, who will train with his new team-mates at Playford Road for the first time in the morning, started his career in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers and with hometown club Waterford United, where he had a spell on loan, before moving on to Scotland where he played for Dunfermline and Dundee United.

Capped three times by Ireland, Hunt joined Reading in July 2008, before following his former Royals’ boss Brian McDermott to Elland Road in the summer of 2013.

Hunt, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has made only one start and one sub appearance so far this season, both in the opening week of the campaign.

Overall, he has made 14 starts and eight sub appearances for the Whites without scoring having missed much of last season due to injury.

Town's signing of Hunt means the Blues are now unlikely to pursue their interest in 19-year-old Chelsea midfielder John Swift, who has been training at Playford Road this week.

Football League clubs have until 5pm on Thursday to sign players on emergency loans.

Town also have Ireland international defender Sean St Ledger on trial and the 29-year-old may be offered a short-term contract through to January, although there is no hurry to agree a deal for the former Leicester man as he is currently a free agent.

I see all the usual negative bell-ends are back on the forum, aka Walberswick & Daley. Pair of Norwich fans it would seem, relishing in negativity...

Perhaps they would be amazed to discover we are actually 4 points from the top..

I'm guessing Noel will be added to the ever growing list of players that are not playing.
I can see a lot of comments on here mooting the return of Darren Bent which I think is too realistic because Bent is a proven premier league goalscorer so I'm not convinced he would want to play in the Championship again. And he's on £60K a week at Villa and I can already see that Brighton have been told they must pay £40K of Bents wage if he goes on loan there which this club simply cannot afford :(

Bent proved his top flight quality at Charlton n Sunderland but has clearly had his day. He's milked Villa big time.

Waste of space player imo would rather have one of our youngsters filling in if needed Rather than this sort of player and don't say Mick knows what he is doing because he doesn't always as we know ie Salmon,Noble,Collinson, etc and by the way i always post when we have a positive result or signing.

Wasn't so long ago most of us said Murphy was a 100% player and no more! How many goals has he scored to date?
If Mick and TC believe they can unlock Hunts ability, let's get behind the boy, and see. If they fail, Mick will move him on, what's the big deal?

Im a bit surprised but Hunt Jr is not a bad player if he is fit. He is similar Stephen Hunt in terms of his energy and work rate and he does have an eye for goal.
Mainly he can play the No 10 role in behind the strikers as Jonny did. He is definitely back up and covers front three, wing and attacking mid field roles.

He is also a very positive figure and will certainly keep pushing the rest of the squad to maintain the high standards set so far. I think this is a message from MM and TC that there is no room for complacency in the squad!

At the risk of sounding like a person who follows blindly and questions nothing, given what Miracle Mick has achieved at our club, I have no choice but to follow him blindly and question nothing. IN Mick we trust.
Instead I will rejoice in the fact that deals continue to be done discretely and at lighting speed, which wasn't the case before he arrived. It's like night and day. COYB.

Agree that this is hardly a signing to make the eyes light up, but let's see how he goes .

Has anybody played well at Leeds in the last several years???

Why are we signing a player that can't even get in the Leeds team?! A team pushing for promotion should be looking at signing players from the Prem, not from a team below themselves in the league

Why are we signing noel hunt. We should be signing good role models like ched Evans and Luke mccormick

Does not fill me with any excitement or get my pulse running--the bottom line is that the owner has got to put his hand in his pocket and spend some real money in January not only to reward management for the fantastic job they have done but to get us over the line in to the Premiership---2 QUALITY players should do it.

Thank you Hugoagogo, had forgotten the Gregory brothers.
Brassy obviously remember John O'Rourke who I think went to Coventry way back in December 1969;but afraid I do not remember Ken O'Rourke.
Razor like you hope owner splashes out a bit of money in January;but presume he will have to be careful,as although the FFP rules are going to be relaxed dont think its for another year or two.

Is his scoring ratio any worse than sammons!!
He's gonna be 5th striker will hardly be used.
If any injuries he could be worth a shout.
Surely his bro helped him out to come here :-)

Warkys Tash: Priceless.

MaxHarrold: made me crack up that did

i believe that we found a certain Aaron Cresswell at a lower league club didnt we... look how that signing turned out for us? not to mention Mings from a non league club?
i think people need to get to grips with the ITFC Scouting staff.. there no morons, they know how to get the best out of people and if the best dont cut the mustard... shown the door, simple as that?

we'll win 2-1 at Charlton 72nd minute D.Murphy goal.. watch this space!

Not a question of moaning for the sake of it, just on this particular loan...he hasn't really shown any form the last year or so but wish him the best. Bent would have been a far better option.
