Sears Starts as McCarthy Makes Five Changes
Tuesday, 10th Feb 2015 19:08

Boss Mick McCarthy has made five changes to his side for this evening’s game against Sheffield Wednesday with Freddie Sears, as expected, handed his full debut.

Sears is up front in place of David McGoldrick, who misses out with the thigh injury he suffered at Rotherham.

Jonny Parr comes in at left-back for Tyrone Mings, who drops to the bench, while Teddy Bishop, Stephen Hunt and Darren Ambrose come in for Kevin Bru, Paul Anderson and Jay Tabb, who are also amongst the subs. Keeper Dean Gerken also returns to the bench.

The named XI could line-up in a number of formations but Ambrose, who will be making his third full league debut for the Blues, could play behind Sears and one-time Owls loanee Daryl Murphy and ahead of the other three midfielders.

Alternatively, Ambrose or Bishop could be on the right of a 4-4-2 system or Hunt could start in a front three.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Parr, Berra, Smith, Skuse, Bishop, S Hunt, Ambrose, Sears, Murphy. Subs: Gerken, Mings, Anderson, N Hunt, Bru, Tabb, Clarke.

Sheffield Wednesday: Westwood, Vermijl, Mattock, Lees (c), Hutchinson, Dielna, Lee, McGugan, Helan, May, Keane. Subs: Kirkland, Buxton, Palmer, Nuhiu, Maghoma, Bus, Melo. Referee: Stuart Attwell (Warwickshire).

Glad Parr gets his chance, would rather have seen him dropped into RB with Mings remaining on the left.
Didz needs to sort his head out, he has been poor for weeks now! Hope Sears can grab a few!

I sense an Ambrose goal ,follow up from a Sears shot thats saved ,and then the opposite where Sears scores from a follow up. COYB

Still not sure what to make of the changes. Happy that Sears, Bishop and Parr are back but with Mings being dropped there's still no balance to the defence. Don't think Bru deserved to be dropped either. However, it's a squad game and a long season so I trust Mick knows what he's doing! Coyb!!

Worried 5 changes but will the tactics change? Can see 442 with Bish stuck out on right and chambers hoofing ball over his head all game. I hope and pray I'm wrong just not confident at the moment

Watch out 442 chambers hoof hope i am wrong and we play it on the turf for a change but i just cant see stubborn changing , i would have liked Mings at lb and Parr at rb with Cambo center half and Smith on the bench but a little happier with selections than of late.

Staying well away from the chatroom for the match tonight - turns into a blood-fest for the moaners if every thing doesn't go our way.

Good Lord! Just realising I'm depending on either Mick Mills or Alex Mathie on Player to provide me with a positive experience for the game tonight!

So, if we can have lots of moaning from the crowd, getting on players backs etc, that has got to be the recipe for success. Pulling together and teamwork are well over-rated, you can find loads of examples of teams whose crowds are hostile to their own team being extremely successful, and i challenge you to find even one example of a team with a supportive home crowd having any kind of success. So come on people, lets moan our team to victory
