Town Open Day Set to Be Biggest Ever
Monday, 20th Jul 2015 13:32

Town’s Open Day on Thursday 30th July is expected to be the biggest so far with more activities taking place on the FieldTurf than in previous years (doors open 10am, entry free). More than 4,500 fans attended last year’s event.

As in previous years, fans will be able to watch manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor hold a training session on the main Portman Road pitch, before they join the squad to sign autographs and have photos taken pitchside.

Meanwhile, on the FieldTurf behind the East of England Co-op Stand, there will be amongst other attractions coaching sessions put on by Town and the Suffolk FA, giant inflatables, bouncy castles, sand arts, Dream Team and Co’s Frozen Princesses, face painting from the East of England Co-op, Go Ape’s Segway Experience, the Yum Yum Cookery School, Seckford Golf, Just Jay Dance, 10-pin bowling with Namco Funscape and three horses from the Suffolk Punch Trust.

BBC Radio Suffolk’s Mark Murphy will be broadcasting live, while the rest of the Life’s a Pitch team and several Blues legends will also be along. For more details visit the club site.

What a shame these days aren't done on a Saturday.

Not everyone can get to Ipswich mid-week.

I think it's designed for 10 year old kids to be honest, most of them won't be working 9-5!! Great idea and gives them something to do rather than hanging around the streets during the summer holidays

Whilst I agree with NSL given the choice between work or a bouncy castle I'd be taking my shoes off with the rest of them.

Agree with NSL. Kids will probably want/ need a lift so Saturday for most would be better. Not sure I'd let my 10 year old make his own way, unless he was with other parents. Besides, I'd like to have gone too. Living 120+ miles from the ground doesn't help with midweek activities either though, but that's my problem, not the clubs.
