McQueen and Wyatt Join Maldon and Tiptree
Tuesday, 28th Jul 2015 15:52

Released duo Darren McQueen and Ben Wyatt have joined Ryman League Division One North Maldon and Tiptree, who are managed by former Blues defender and Academy coach David Wright.

Striker McQueen, 20, joined the Blues last summer after a trial, having been released by Spurs and was a regular in the U21s last season. He made his only senior appearance as a sub in the Capital One Cup defeat at Crawley.

Full-back Wyatt, 19, signed from Norwich at the same time, again after a trial, and also featured for the U21s, but failed to break into the first team before being released alongside McQueen at the end of 2014/15.

Wright recently left his part-time role at Playford Road to join Colchester United’s staff, while also managing Maldon and Tiptree.

McQueen needs to get on the weights or convert his position to a winger. Maybe he's just young and still filling out. There's no doubt he's got ability and he should be back in the football league soon if he works hard enough.

Shame for Wyatt, he looked really good last pre-season. Regrettable the only chance you get to see some of these youngsters on a bigger stage is the friendlies. Good luck Ben and Darren.

Both have every chance of returning to a league club if they knuckle down and work hard, David Wright will give them that opportunity(with his contacts in the game) if they do the business for him good luck boys.

Being a maldon boy I'm delighted to see some young talent at Maldon and Tiptree! Good luck to you both guys! I know of another young lad released into non league football that came good and now playing in the Premier League.
