QPR Midfielder Henry Linked
Saturday, 16th Apr 2016 09:38

Town boss Mick McCarthy is reported to be considering bringing QPR midfielder Karl Henry to Portman Road in the summer.

According to The Sun, the Blues manager is weighing-up whether to make a move for his former Wolves skipper if the 33-year-old isn't offered new terms by the West Londoners with his current contract up at the end of the season.

Speaking earlier in the week Henry, who was amongst the Wolves players often linked with the Blues during the early days of McCarthy’s tenure at Town, said he was yet to hear whether he would be offered a new deal at Loftus Road.

"I'm sure I’ll knock on the door at some stage," he told Get West London. "My contract is up and, if they want me, I'd love to be a part of things. We'll see how the rest of the season goes and what they want to do. Fingers crossed I can be here next year.”

The Town squad would already appear to be well covered for combative central midfielders even if Henry, who has been a regular in the QPR side this season, were to become available in the summer.

McCarthy. Do the honourable thing and Go now for the sake of the club. It's death by boredom. You've become a parody.

In the summer we need to be buying a one way ticket for all the journeymen - out of town!

Probably is just paper talk but hardly great Investigative journalism to come up with Ipswich as a possible home for a 33 year old ultra defensive midfielder who once played for Wolves !

McCarthy would really be taking the p@ss if he was to sign him in the summer - that's a few less season ticket renewals IF this is the case!

Exactly lightningboy - the most frustrating thing for me is this is the type of player we are now linked with ...... WHOEVER'S AT FAULT FOR THAT .....
COYB11 what's beginning to "grind on me" is the assumption you have to be pro Mick or anti Mick & if you are anti Mick you somehow hate the club.
I have become "anti" the style, ambition & some of the choices made by the club recently ...... and if that makes me anti Mick then so be it ...... after all he is the manager & makes these choices (team style, player selections, Acadamy players offered contracts -Sam Ford issue).
I far from hate or am not a true fan of the club I have followed for all of my life (40+ years) & resent people such as yourself telling me I do.
I support the CLUB, doesn't mean I have to blindly support a manager who I believe plays in the wrong way & is now (having I am happy to acknowledge saved us when he came in in stabilised us) damaging our great club.

Any players signed must be under twenty five and not from any relegated teams give aways. We have enough of these here on extended contracts with no ability to make the squad.

This could be great if he uses henry to push Douglas out of the XI...

Are we all that sad to believe a rumour from a paper most of us wouldn't even dream of wiping our own arses with? Come on get a grip people this is paper talk, nothing more.

If true, and it's a big 'if' given the source, then I despair.

33 bit too young for Mick. Once again players past their best with at most 1 season left!

Paper talk or not, not the player we should be looking at, ITFC pension scheme is obviously still attractive.
A midfield injection has been needed for some seasons now, why can't they see this?
Sorry I keep forgetting if you hoof the ball out and bypass the midfield you don't need one, doh, Skuse and Douglas do not fill the bill, as crap as Douglas has been he has has still managed to score more goals then in all the time Skuse has been here. Free up both their wages to get someone with a forward pass in them.

The job of an agent is to sort contracts. To get the player the best deal he needs to create interest in the player. A quick anonymous call to the Sun ought to do it.
He will not be a Town player next season.

Let's be realistic here, although he is 33 and this is a might happen paper rumour, Karl Henry is still a better midfielder than Douglas, Hyam and Coke.

Lets face it the only players looking to come and play for MM will be in three categories
a) I am ex Wolves
b)I am a defensively minded player
c) I am over 30

Was rather hoping MM would not be with ITFC by then,And we'd have someone with more ambition and ideas managing .
