Five Changes for Town at Lincoln
Tuesday, 17th Jan 2017 19:19

Paul Digby, Leon Best, Dean Gerken, Jonathan Douglas and Grant Ward all come into the Town team facing Lincoln City in this evening’s FA Cup third round replay at Sincil Bank (BBC One, 8pm, kick-off 8.05pm).

Digby makes his second start of the season - the other was in the EFL Cup - in what looks to be a continuation of the three-man backline on the right with skipper Luke Chambers in the middle and Christophe Berra on the left with Adam Webster missing out, presumably due to injury.

Josh Emmanuel and Jonas Knudsen will again be the wing-backs, while manager Mick McCarthy had indicated that Gerken would again start in goal with Bartosz Bialkowski the sub keeper.

Ward and Douglas look set to start in central midfield with Andre Dozzell and Kevin Bru dropping to the bench. Best replaces Freddie Sears, who is also among the subs, up front with Tom Lawrence.

Also on the bench are youngsters Adam McDonnell, a midfielder, striker Ben Morris and left-back Pat Webber.

Lincoln name the same XI which started the 2-2 draw at Portman Road having made six changes for Saturday’s 3-1 FA Trophy victory at Gateshead.

Lincoln: Farman, Wood, Haberham, Waterfall (c), Power, Rhead, Hawkridge, Raggett, Arnold, Woodyard, Robinson. Subs: Muldoon, Marriott, Long, Miles, McCombe, Weatherell, Walker.

Town: Gerken, Digby, Chambers (c), Berra, Emmanuel, Ward, Skuse, Douglas, Knudsen, Lawrence, Best. Subs: Bialkowski, Bru, Sears, Dozzell, McDonnell, Morris, Webber.

WIN, lose or draw, I'm shocked Douglas and Skuse! Scored 3 at Wigan, 2 against Bristol City, 3 against Blackburn all without Douglas! The stats don't lie! Really thought McCarthy this evening would have gone out to out score Lincoln, nowt like an old fool!

McCarthy you are a lying tw@t. Thought you said you wanted to win. Thought you were going to put out your best side. Scuse and Douglas does not work.
I fear this could be one of Ipswich Towns most embarrassing matches and on the TV.

A more positive spin

The Skuse Douglas partnership gets reeled out for non lge Lincoln on a Tuesday night. Perhaps that means come sat a different pair starts.

Perhaps wishful but remember what Monty Python said

This is a game is for blooding youngsters and gicongratulations some squad players a run out. That team should win. The bigger concern would be not to win at 2nd time of asking

What a load of rubbish. Lincoln are playing well. They deserve to be at least 1 up. Lawrence excellent for us.

The commentator seems to have identified our midfield problem in half an hour. Shame our esteemed manager can't.

Now now. MM did promise a different game and it is. We are even more sh.he than last time. The skill and acumen of the defensive eight is blinding, the incisive defense splitting passes of the midfield one allied to the intelligent runs of the attacking one are without parallel. I'm H A P P Y

Never thought I'd say Lawrence is a class act.. We are clueless. Great managers like Taylor and Robson would not stand for this

What an embarrassment. Have never known any Ipswich team to play with such little quality as this.

Staggeringly incompetent. Boring style, no passing, hoof everything, Knudsen throws are backwards, defence is dreadful, nice save Gerkan.

The Cobbolds with Sir Bobby left a legacy which has been wiped out by Evans and the Clowns he puts in Charge. If i was Cowley i would be frustrated my team are not out of site by now. This current Town team are crap.

Totally embarrassing, highlight of the half was the save, half the team are non existent as are the tactics and skill set.

I can't believe your moaning about gerken and Douglas on here when berra is our worst player by far. He has been for weeks. Change the record. He had one good season. Delusional if you think he's still a decent centre half. He needs a tug boat to help him turn round. Don't even get me started on his 'passing'
