Nemesis Nugent Ruled Out of Portman Road Trip
Monday, 30th Jan 2017 16:08

Town nemesis David Nugent has been ruled out of tomorrow’s visit to Portman Road by his new club Derby County. The 31-year-old joined the Rams from Middlesbrough for £2.5 million earlier in the transfer window.

Nugent, who is suffering with a knee injury, has scored 15 goals in 15 games against the Blues and 10 in eight games at Portman Road for Preston, Portsmouth, Leicester, Middlesbrough and the England U21s in a game against Moldova in 2006.

"It's still a bit too soon for him but we hope to have him back training by the end of the week,” Derby boss Steve McClaren confirmed.

He could probably turn up and play in a wheel chair and still score against us. Good news that he's injured. I won't be disappointed if he never plays against us again!

That's why I've only gone for a 1-0 defeat, with just Bent scoring.

Hahaha has there ever been a player that everyone's been so happy to know is injured??? Great news!! Now just need Bent to have a strain of some kind in training!!

Hoping Darren Bent has a mare trying to clear it off the line...

I'll believe it when I see his name missing from the match day programme. Be a right result if he is missing though as he only has to turn up a PR & is usually guaranteed a brace.

It's Tuesday night at home, what do we have to worry about?

Darren Bent to score then!.. would be reasonable if our defence plays with the obvious ability they have, and keep all attempts out

That is a big enough plus for us to win. Just do it, go for a win.

Very good news;but they will still have 11 other good players out there;so not overly confident.

Last time Nugent was here he tried score late on in the match and missed, kicking the goalpost. Loved watching that on the highlights. Not wishing to disrespect anyone who is an estate agent here, but he is up there with my least liked category.

Well Nugent being out should help. We need to try to match them so hope that Douglas, Scuse and Toumani D are not all picked to start. Want to see us with similar line up that we had for Preston game with McGoldrick getting a decent amount of time on the field at some point......
