Listen Again: Milne and Andrews on Life's a Pitch
Monday, 6th Feb 2017 12:35

Blues MD Ian Milne and financial director Mark Andrews were the guests on Saturday's Life’s a Pitch, which was live from the FanZone on BBC Radio Suffolk, and were quizzed by Mark Murphy and TWTD’s Phil Ham.

You can find the full interview, which covered topics including Town’s January transfer business - with Milne confirming that Preston’s Jordan Hugill was a Town target - owner Marcus Evans’s Five-Point Plan, manager Mick McCarthy’s future, attendances, ticket pricing and more, in the first half-hour here.

Life’s a Pitch can be heard every Saturday from 12 noon until 2pm on 95.5FM, 95.9FM, 103.9FM and 104.6FM, and also now on DAB, or online via a widget on TWTD here.

What a couple of jokers. Can you believe these two are involved in the running of the club. They have clearly no idea about football or the business of it and can barely string a meaningful sentence together. We are obviously destined for the Championship for some time to come with Evans having a budget that doesn't get us anywhere near promotion. Thank goodness for the 5 point plan!

Well done Phil and Mark.

At last two people prepared to put the difficult questions, which many fans have been asking.

Unlike their colleague Brenner Wooley who's sycophantic utterances when doing post match interviews with Mick McCarthy, make me think he is in awe,or frightened of the blunt Yorkshireman.

This was of course before the match on Saturday which saw a much improved performance, and I feel that at last the message is getting through;whether it's supporters staying away, cancelling their season tickets or voicing their criticism.

The media especially the EADT(don't have the Star)have made great play about the deteriorating situation and Phil and Mark certainly put their case, and that of the supporters, very well.

Well done lads.Lets hope the draw on Saturday, and the more attractive football;will persuade some of the waverers.Although lets not get too carried away for it was only a draw which takes the Town 2 points nearer the bottom three.

I listened to the interview on Saturday and again just now. Could nt say that Mr Milne or Mr Andrews inspired me in the slightest. They had no passion whatsoever. Clearly we are where we are. Like Mr Evans I will be working to an undisclosed budget. I can make savings and still attend games. Not renewing my silver card. Sit in Lower Stand. Not purchase product from shop or bar/refreshments and so on. Perhaps its time to remind the owner that we are walking adverts for his business. Would nt it be ironic if we all attended games with the name covered up by brown tape. Come on Mr Evans, don't send boys to do men's work. Be a man and talk to the fans direct. How about meeting some of us face to face.?

These two remind me of a scenario where it's a 'typical job for the boys' - NOT for someone who knows Football at all - maybe it's Milne's style but he is certainly not an impressive speaker.

The only thing Milne said which impressed me was - he PROMISED that the current situation would be turned around, and we would start winning games again, and be competitive.

Hopefully these non Football people will soon start learning a bit about what they are doing, because at the moment they come across as purely bean counters.

We can only wait for the Milne Promise to materialise ....... !!! ..... hopefully sooner rather than later.

Abington: what a great idea! Everyone attend the game and support as normal, but tape over the owners name on all kit/tops etc. That's a great way to make a statement but without sounding like you're attacking the players

It seems to me that Mr Evans is only effected by the bottom line. If he can get away with a sub standard product , he will do. What other business would rely on their customers to accept second rate service and expect their customers to stay loyal. Basically he is saying , I pay the bills so turn up and pay. There lies the answer.

DurhamTownFan. Do you really think that ME would give a damn about taping over his name?
Here's a really radical approach - don't buy the stuff in the first place!
Loads of people come on here complaining about high ticket prices (for the record, I agree) but the price of the annually changing replica shirt is outrageous, and since when have sky blue chevrons been a part of our tradition? The thing is hideous and God only knows what atrocity those good people at Adidas will dream up for next season.
Save your money and make your statement that way - you can still get behind the team in material other than nylon.
The guy is clearly so thick skinned that I doubt this will work either but you'll be the thick end of 60 Quid better off and you won't be risking spontaneous combustion through static electricity every time you stand up and boo Jonathan Douglas.
