Town XI at King's Lynn in Pre-Season
Wednesday, 31st May 2017 19:25

A Blues XI will play a friendly at King’s Lynn Town on Wednesday 26th July (KO 7.45pm).

Town are likely to field an U23 team against the Linnets, who play in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League and are managed by former Norwich full-back Ian Culverhouse.

A Blues side visited The Walks in 1980 and attracted a gate of 4,900 for a testimonial when a team including Paul Cooper, George Burley, Kevin Beattie, Roger Osborne, John Wark, Paul Mariner, Alan Brazil and Eric Gates ran out 3-0 winners, Gates, Wark and Osborne the scorers.

A full list of Town’s pre-season games announced so far can be found here.

If we can double that Gate for next season at Portman Rd we will be doing well !!!! while Dino is in charge.

Can't get too excited about preseason if I'm honest.. Might be worth doing away with the slagging our coaches off as it's a fresh season ahead. I haven't been encouraged for a long time, but I'm not getting on the pointless negative bandwagon at this time

Didnt a Town XI play at Lynn with Lee Chapman in the Line up? Lynn went 3-0 with Gavin Dolby scoring for LY

Wasn't it Culverhouse who passed the ball back to Bryan Gunn when he did his famous air kick?

Another uninspiring pre season with no crowd pullers leading towards another boring season ahead. Nothing is happening and nothing is changing except for our owner apparently becoming richer. We will bring in the out of contract players that no one else wants and a couple of decent loan players who will never become ours. The seasons are becoming as predictably boring as the football. Crowd levels will drop like a stone if this carries on, let's just pray that our league status doesn't too. What is there to look forward to??

Tractorboy1985. Yeah pretty sure it was 3-3. Dolby had left Town and banged in loads of goals for the linnets that season. Have to admit I was at the 3-0 in 1980 as well! Poked some bloke in the eye with my Town flag hehe. TWTD

Currie10. First teams and reserve teams are from a bygone era. These days it's a squad game so surely all the squad players should be championship level and it follows that a pre-season should be based on getting them fit and ready for the championship. I think last season showed how poor our preparation was in playing all preseason games against lower opposition and failing to beat them on several occasions. Are we maybe preparing for a lower level in the future? I just can't see how our players are going to be confident and fired up on day one with this sort of build up.
