Bristol City and Wolves Linked With Huws
Thursday, 8th Jun 2017 19:24

Bristol City and Wolves have reportedly joined Town in showing interest in Cardiff midfielder Emyr Huws, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Blues during the second half of 2016/17.

Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed at the end of the season he’d like to bring Huws back to Portman Road next season, but according to the Daily Mail the Robins and Wolves are also keen, while we understand other Championship clubs kept tabs on the 23-year-old during his spell with the Blues.

Huws has another two years on his Cardiff contract but wasn’t in Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock’s plans prior to his January move to Town having made only two starts and two sub appearances.

The Wales international said in April that he had enjoyed his time at Portman Road having scored three goals in 13 starts and hoped a deal could be done in the summer.

Huws took a paycut to join Town on loan and his high wages could prove to be an obstacle as the Blues look to sign him on a permanent basis.

No chance. With Bristol City and Wolves both in contention we need to start looking elsewhere.

Unless he's on a free and takes a huge pay cut we won't get him. More third rate journeymen and loans will be our lot. Operation relegation underway.

I thought Cardiff would have swapped him for Gherkin but we wouldn't do that deal back in January?

Doubt Huws will be with us this coming season. Mick will come up with an older player discarded by someone else. May be half decent. Maybe not. Agree with those who say we need to develop our own players - but then we need a set-up that is geared to that end. Total re-think in strategy and leadership now required.

We knew other clubs would be interested in signing him, this report just names 2 that appear to have confirmed their interest. I don't understand all the immediate doom & gloom because of it. If one of the relegated sides or big spending promotion favourites like Derby or Sheffield Wed were mentioned it might seem a bit more hopeless, but Bristol City & Wolves hardly lit up the league last season, nor are they likely to offer stupid money for him. Doesn't change things as far as I'm concerned.

All we will get is loans and freebies if we cannot compete for players against the likes of Bristol City then we are staring Div 1 in the face.

We don't pay what others do and he won't come...

Free transfers, loans etc will be what we get. Then we will be guaranteed a play-off place & the world will be a better place.

Time will tell though.

@jpring89

Totally agree - so depressing how our club continually drags it's feet.

realise there not many world beater footballers out there. But when you need reinforcements like we do, it's time to get them in

What's the point commenting on fake news. Let's see what the season brings and then start moaning if that's what gets you going.

WE don't get players in early because the club don't want to pay them during summer. The longer players go without getting a club the more desperate they become to sign for anyone as the season draws closer. We all know we will get the left overs as usual, that's how the club plays it. Less money spent on wages, no transfer fee's at all if we can just feed off players out of contract or loans. I also think as someone commented earlier that MM likes it that way and advises ME it's the most prudent way to put together a squad and not cost much money. That's great if you like watching crap, I don't!

Things are looking beyond grim to say the least, amazing scanning this mornings papers that our club is not mentioned in any shape or form regarding potential transfers etc, where the likes of Brum for e.g after paying silly money to get the dodgy Redknapp on board, are linked with numerous players!!! It's almost like the club has literally shut down for a couple of months. No statements or anything else for that mannor from ITFC regarding next season, IMHO it's a fecking disgrace!!! Useless tools!!

DINO OUT ACE AP please!!!
