Cardiff Accept Town Bid for Huws
Monday, 26th Jun 2017 12:58

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has revealed that the Bluebirds have accepted an offer from Town for ex-Blues loanee Emyr Huws.

“I spoke to [Ipswich manager] Mick McCarthy and we've accepted an offer and I think it's just down to the two clubs to sort the little details out," Warnock told BBC Wales Sport.

"I think the player is happy, he had a good time there and we wish him well.”

The 23-year-old Wales international joined the Blues on loan on the final day of the January window and enjoyed a highly successful spell at Portman Road, scoring three goals in 13 starts.

Warnock added: ”Right on the deadline day I said, 'I want you to stay, but if Ipswich don't come up with the wages you're going to have to stay’.

"He ended up paying some of the wages himself, which I found incredible and I can't take my hat off to him enough.

"It's paid off for him, because he's going to get himself a club and a contract where he'll be happy playing."

This is mega! My only concern is negotiating Emyr's salary. Sounds like he was on a tidy wedge at Cardiff, probably more than he was really worth, if he was honest. Will he take a cut to play here?

Will be an excellent signing if terms can be agreed. As he took a pay cut for the loan deal you would like to think that terms can be agreed as long as both sides are sensible

His still got to agree to join yet. All well and good both clubs agreeing a few, but he may come to his senses

hhhmmmm I know quite a few people would love to see him back here and will be happy with the news but personally have mixed feelings about him and I'm not sure if he's the future in our midfield. Felt he had just as many games when he went missing as good games...still wish him all the best if he agrees personal terms (which no doubt he will).

Best midfielder we've had at club for many a season....

Please get deal done and build around him.. Been major critic over last couple years but this type of signing brings back the belief

TOP PLAYER

Very little to add,and will be pleased if it goes through.

Nice to see NOT ONE outright negative post

Hope this happens. Huws was by far the most positive midfielder we had last year (if you exclude Lawrence who I'd class as an attacker).

Need a good 20 goal partner for Garner, and another ball player at the back to put pressure on Chambo and Smith (assuming one will normally play). Then get rid of Knudsen, swap McCarthy for anybody, and I'll renew my season ticket :)
