Cardiff Accept Town Bid for Huws
Monday, 26th Jun 2017 12:58

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has revealed that the Bluebirds have accepted an offer from Town for ex-Blues loanee Emyr Huws.

“I spoke to [Ipswich manager] Mick McCarthy and we've accepted an offer and I think it's just down to the two clubs to sort the little details out," Warnock told BBC Wales Sport.

"I think the player is happy, he had a good time there and we wish him well.”

The 23-year-old Wales international joined the Blues on loan on the final day of the January window and enjoyed a highly successful spell at Portman Road, scoring three goals in 13 starts.

Warnock added: ”Right on the deadline day I said, 'I want you to stay, but if Ipswich don't come up with the wages you're going to have to stay’.

"He ended up paying some of the wages himself, which I found incredible and I can't take my hat off to him enough.

"It's paid off for him, because he's going to get himself a club and a contract where he'll be happy playing."

It's a postive start in getting fans back On side: it looks like for the first time since Keane's first season we have a owner who's again backing his manager: I believe 10-12 sides next season are capable of a Top 6 finish so it was vital we signed decent players, I never expected us to be spending 3-5 m on any player: if we can sign 3/4 players in the 1-3m range it would help us compete: Huws would be a great signing not since M:Holland have we had a goal scoring midfielder: this summer is looking promising! Be great opening day against Birmingham to be walking too the ground excited:

Please lets not mess this one up ME/MM !!!
McGinn is a different matter with two years left of his contract to pay up and the fact that Celtic are sniffing around. I dont expect to get McGinn but Hews is a "Must not cock up the negotiations" player for me. Was excellent last season, probably the brightest spark of a dismal campaign.

That's more like it, can't fault this whatsoever. And he seems a hungry player, speaks volumes that he was prepared to come here on loan last season and take a pay cut for the privilege. With an attitude like that he could well become a fans' favourite in the blue & white.
I never thought we'd see him a town shirt again and believe you me it's very nice to be proven wrong as we need these sorts of players to give us a real fighting chance next season. Great news, hope they can tie up the loose ends quickly and get this signed sealed and delivered.

Len Brennan Celina is replacing Tom Lawrence not Douglas ! Good news about Huws but hardly in Magiltons class. What we need is Bishop back playing at full tilt, gliding past opponents for fun. That really would give us a chance of making the playoffs.

Les Brennan Celina is replacing Tom Lawrence not Douglas! Good news about Huws but hardly in the Magilton class. Still more sublime left foot volleys into the net as him v the Magpies would be fantastic. What we need now is Bishop to return to full fitness, gliding past opponents for fun. That really would push us near the playoffs.

Sounds like a bit of money is being spent. Lets hope for this level of investment throughout the team.

rfretwell - Agreed, although I didn't actually mean to suggest they were like for like replacements & in a particular order. I meant that in general we appear to be replacing uncompromising type midfielders with ones who have more creative footballing ability about them.
I should have acknowledged the loss of Lawrence in my post though.

I have stayed away for a while having been so depressed but having watched this guy make such at good impression at the Villa away game last season (he was our stand out player, although McGoldrick did have a good game too to be fair), I genuinely think that the brown stuff has hit the extracting device in ME's office and we now seem to building a competitive squad. I just hope that MM stops the dogs of war stuff and aims for what he did with wolves when they went up. Yes we have be hard to beat, but no we don't have to be hard to watch!!
My excitement level has risen from abject apathy to another look at the fixtures as I may attend a few games now!

This sounds extremely promising. I imagine that Emyr is motivated. He knows the set up here as well as most of the players and management. The supporters are behind him and it sounds like ME and MM have intent. Let's hope so.

Awesome news! Fair play to town quite a promising summer so far.

Really promising news coming out of the club so far. what a breath of fresh air. My overriding concern is still that we will lose Bialkowski. Please please please let this increased spending be a sign that we are trying to build the strongest squad possible and not that we have extra cash from an impending sale

Amazing news and he wants to play for Town!

The best news of the summer. It looks like ME and MM are trying to get a team together which can compete with the others.

........ good signing - IF it comes off.

They'll probably expect a refund of half his Salary each month - so save the euphoria until it's done - all you easily pleased people.
