Town have launched a new initiative which will see any unsold pies and and pasties from Portman Road home games delivered to the Salvation Army’s Lyndon House resettlement centre for homeless men.

The arrangement was in place for the first time following Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Nottingham Forest with hundreds of pounds worth of food delivered to the Fore Street-based facility.

""“It just makes sense to do this,” Town stadium manager Greg Pillinger told the club site.

""“Our matchday caterers, Centerplate, agreed to the idea straightaway and we have the help of Hawk Express Taxis in taking the food to Lyndon House.

“We obviously have food hygiene rules to adhere to and we have had support from the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) from Ipswich Borough Council.

“It worked really well on Saturday, with pies, pasties and sausage rolls all delivered to the Salvation Army and we will continue to do the same over the rest of the season.”
