Town Claimed to Want More Than £4m for Bialkowski
Tuesday, 2nd Jan 2018 13:10

Town reportedly want more than £4 million for keeper Bartosz Bialkowski with Crystal Palace continuing to be linked with the 30-year-old Pole.

According to the Daily Mirror, Bialkowski is top of the Eagles’ wish-list and they have already made enquiries to Town, who want "in excess of £4 million" for their Player of the Year for the last two seasons.

When there was interest in Bialkowski from Wolves early on last summer, the Blues were understood to have put a £5 million price tag on Bialkowski’s head.

Palace were first mentioned in connection with the Town keeper just over a week ago when they were said to be keeping a watching brief on the former Southampton and Notts County man. However, we understand they weren’t represented at either of Town’s home games over Christmas.

The Eagles, who are known to be targeting another keeper in January, have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Kevin Trapp, Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone, who is on loan at Aston Villa but now strongly tipped to join West Brom, and QPR’s Alex Smithies in recent weeks.

Asked about the Palace-Bialkowski link last week, manager Mick McCarthy said: “I know [there was a story linking Palace with Bialkowski], but everybody knows Crystal Palace are looking for a goalkeeper.

“And I think they’ve looked in the Championship. I saw Alex Smithies got a mention at QPR, and there are loads of them being mentioned.

“I don’t know, they’ll be doing their due diligence on all the goalkeepers. All everybody knows is that Bart is a really top Championship keeper.

“But they might be looking for somebody who has got Premier League experience. I don’t know. I’m not picking and choosing their team.”

Bialkowski is out of contract at the end of the season but with the Blues having an option for a further year which there is little doubt they will take up before the end of the season.

If we actually spent the money to bolster the squad, okay but we usually don't.

Jordan27 If somebody came along and offered you the chance to double your salary plus receive some nice tasty add ons regardless of how content you are in your current job, you'd be very interested. I know I would.
Also with ME losing money month on month it may not be Barts choice.

Let's be honest. McCarthy is probably the best option for what the club can afford and offer and likewise the other way round. Please remember about how much the club is in debt before people hoot on about spending. We all would love to have neymar, Messi or Ronaldo, but it ain't going to happen.

if the money was going to be used to bolster the squad I would sell but it won't be. Unfortunately we are just a lower mid table team and until a new owner is found with heaps of cash that is what we will be. Not Micks fault or Evans its footballs success and transfer fees etc that are the real problem.

This is a more difficult negotiation for our club than it may seem.

Bart is likely to want to go to the Premiership if only because the money would set him and his family up for life. Even if we take up the option, he can leave for free in 18 months. That means that our hand is weak and getting weaker with every passing window. All the other clubs will know it. If he was worth £5 million in the summer he will be worth less now, not more.

It has taken Ipswich ages to finally get a Top keeper once again. Bart took two seasons to finally establish himself as our number 1 & then went from strength to strength.

I wouldn't want to lose him but if he doesn't get sold then it should be £10M. PL teams have the money.

If Pickford went for 30 mil then surely Bart is worth half that if we can't get that tell Palace to jog on
