Season Ticket Sales Up Seven Per Cent as Early Bird Deadline Extended to Wednesday
Monday, 30th Apr 2018 13:30

Town have revealed that season ticket sales are up seven per cent on the same point last summer and that with phone lines having been busy ahead of this lunchtime’s midday deadline, the early bird price will remain available until noon on Wednesday.

The Blues ticket office received more than 150 calls in three hours this morning with prices set to rise significantly after the deadline. An adult lower tier seat, for example, costing £381 will be £163 more expensive post-early bird.

Town, who dropped prices by 10 per cent across the board for 2018/19, say they have sold more than 10,000 seats with cancellations 50 per cent down on a year ago.

“The uptake has been very encouraging and obviously we are delighted,” managing director Ian Milne told the club site."

"“There is a positive feeling about the club and I think that is shown with the increase in season ticket sales.""“We are going into an exciting new era for everyone involved with Ipswich Town, particularly the supporters.”

Season tickets can be purchased at Planet Blue, by phone on 03330 050503 or online from ITFC Direct.

This is really good news — heading in the right direction most definitely.
I do think that IM is getting a wee bit ahead of himself with this comment though:
“There is a positive feeling about the club and I think that is shown with the increase in season ticket sales.
“We are going into an exciting new era for everyone involved with Ipswich Town, particularly the supporters.”
IM/ME should be aware that they are one appointment of a McClaren/Cotterill/Pardew/Megson/Holloway from a PR disaster that will probably make MM's infamous F off at Norwich pale into insignificance. Good start with ticket price reductions, get the next bit right [appointing a manager that captures the imagination], really get some proper traction on the 5 point plan and then and only then pat yourselves on the back.
I do feel slightly more positive, but it's a fragile positivity not based on trust or confidence in delivery of previous hastily designed promises as a short term ‘get us out of the proverbial with the supporters' fix. For example the [actually logical and deliverable] 5 point plan, which was a great idea from the back of a fag packet that no one has been able to take seriously to date.
There is still a very long way to go Mr Milne.
Just saying……..

Swn98 get over it he's gone can we focus on the future!? Injuries this, be careful what you wish for that its boring. Personally its a no brainer why supporters are going to renew this time because Micks gone! Even when he bemoaned the loss of creative players in the past Bishop and Williams spring to mind a couple of seasons ago even when they were fit didn't play them and preferred Dougie and Skuse Williams even played two internationals so lets stop making excuses for him now please every team has injuries!
Lets just support the new guy whoever he is it really cant be any worse than the dross we've watched past 3 seasons and Saturday kind of goes to show what can be done even with players being injured!!

Encouraging news, but I just wonder how many fans have been driven away from PR never to return.

The real test will come next year by which time it will be apparent that hounding MM out was a BIG mistake.

Time will tell.

This is of course very good news. MM leaving the club is already paying dividends.

ME increasing his investment in the playing squad, will I suspect see more folk buy tickets. If not season tickets, more buying for individual matches. Better quality players, will see more folk return.

It's a no-brainer, if finances, commitments and time allow, buy a season ticket before the end of the deadline.

An adult lower tier seat increases in price by almost 43% after the deadline passes (from £381 to £544).

I really wish the discount for supporters aged 60+ would be reinstated...

Swn98 - amazed you've renewed, how can you justify that, without your man McCarthy being in the dugout next season ?

..... when will it register with you Swn98 - that MM didn't want the purse strings opened anymore than they were - he's no fool, and knew full well that he couldn't change his style of play, whatever player he was able to buy. Had he have spent - he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did.

He would have been totally capable of destroying - MESSI ... !!!

Blueboy1981 - heard you say that about MM on a couple of occasions now, ref - McCarthy not wanting them “purse strings opened”, any substance in that???
My ‘theory' is McCarthy was brought in under the instruction that little funds would be made available and stability was the way forward as soon as ‘Marvellious' (ME) realised that he could not buy promotion and the academy was the best way forward.
Btw pure speculation on my part mate!

swn98... have you thought that if MM had played more for a win, instead of boring people with a lets preserve the point philosophy he may have had more funds on account of more people in the ground! Or how about winning a couple of cup games, that brings in money too, you know!

One poster said,no coincidence that the wins at home were only slightly higher than away wins, well there is every coincidence, he sets his teams up the same way whether playing home or away, absolutely nothing to do with the location!!!! He has now gone and i expect come the new season and the new manager that the MM lovers will see just how wrong they were and apologise for their part in holding the club back!

So excited for the impending news of our new manager and what lies ahead as i expect all real town fans will be!

Blueboy, your bitchy comments are getting really tiresome. You feel part of an old era. It would be good to see you put a constructive post together once in a while rather than the relentless embittered sniping.

New era, new Blueboy?

Out of interest, will you be returning to Portman road?

Cheshire Blue----come in to the real world, there is actually a buzz amongst the fans for the first time in years and we are actually looking forward to the new season----I suggest that would NOT be the case with your mate still in charge.

Swn98 are you McCarthy's relation because it's obvious you're still in love with him-he's gone about 30 monthgs after he should have gone. I see this as an indication of how unpopular the MM style is, not just here but everywhere he has been.

Gcon - you have the choice to read or not, obviously my posts are far too near the knuckle of truth, and factual for you and your 'McCarthy's Happy Clappy Clan'. Don't try to pretend you are all happy because you know you're not - you really are the miserable baskets right now, and it's all because 'your man' has GONE. (about time too).

Get it into your heads - he's GONE - and he's NOT coming back.

Move on with Glee - like the rest of us. And yes, I'll be back at Portman Road next season - backing my team to a much better future.

And therein lies the difference, Blueboy.

I support my club through thick and thin.
You, however, are a more fickle, fairweather fan.

No disgrace in that - we are just different. Very different.

Gcon - I'm grateful for the fact that we are so VERY different to both you, and Swn98.

Being deluded has never been part of my forte - neither has throwing money at less than acceptable entertainment..... !!!

One day you'll both realise (perhaps) - that the MINUS button - means NEGATIVE. Surely this should tell you something? You've both hit it enough - and not just my posts either.

Swn... my definition of a real town fan is someone who celebrates a win, as oposed to someone who will prefer to see us lose so they can say,” be careful what you wish for” or “wouldn't have lost under Mm”. These people know who they are!
