Town Move on to Bogle as Accrington Price Blues Out of Jackson Chase
Friday, 3rd Aug 2018 10:28

Accrington Stanley have priced Town out of the chase for Kayden Jackson having put a £2.5 million valuation on the striker’s head, TWTD understands. The Blues have now turned their attention to Cardiff’s Omar Bogle, who we can confirm as per reports earlier this morning is in Town’s sights to come in on loan.

As previously revealed, the Blues offered Stanley £1.5 million for Jackson, who is also understood to be interesting a number of other Championship clubs, including QPR.

HITC Sport are reporting that Town subsequently upped that bid to £1.75 million but it was still refused and a frustrated Jackson has now handed in a transfer request.

However, this claim has subsequently been dismissed by Accrington chairman Andy Holt.

The Blues are unwilling to pay anything approaching the League One club’s asking price for 24-year-old Jackson and have now moved on to Bogle with reports regarding a loan approach emerging this morning.

Town are keen to add another striker to their squad with Martyn Waghorn appearing all but certain to move on before the transfer deadline next Thursday with Derby or Middlesbrough his most likely destination, while a number of other Championship clubs including Sheffield United are also interested.

Blues sources have played down last night’s link with former loanee Jordan Graham, while talks are continuing between Town and Shrewsbury regarding the signings of Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan, although with the moves appearing unlikely to go ahead before the weekend.

Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun is expected at Portman Road today to complete the formalities relating to his season-long loan move.

Town have until 12 noon to register players in time for them to feature against Blackburn tomorrow. The Edun switch is expected to comfortably meet that deadline.

'I've put a sell request in' - that's a great line from a club owner. Refreshing to hear owners/chairmen talk honestly and openly. Given Stanley's journey, I don't blame him for putting the club first.

Been a long time since this level of excitement. Like our approach to buying these players - fair not stupid price. What is also very interesting (and hope I am right) but it seems we have 4 players handing in transfer requests to move top the championship and all associated with us. Wow. Great news (if true) and surely the pressure is now on these clubs with the clock ticking to make good of their situation. Lets not give up on Jackson or Tilt. The Shrews guys appear on their way and Bogle would be a great loan addition too. Of course the bloke from Fulham sounds good too. Would be stupendous if we land all or most of these. Presumably Waggy + one other might be gone tag the end of this journey - just exciting times! Look forward to seeing the match tomorrow

This is the equivalent to us placing a 12 million price on Waghorn and telling people to match it or get lost. What have they got to gain from it besides upsetting the player and probably hastening his departure from the club once his contract is over? It's reckless behaviour from their chairman.

Accrington can old out for whatever (un)reasonable price they wish to place on their players, just like we can do with Waghorn or others, it's their prerogative.
If we are to go for a striker from Cardiff though, I'd much prefer it was Danny Ward.

Hmm that's weird. I thought Hurst could spend all he raises? So far he has seen near enough 5m come in from the departure of Webster Knight and FIFA money and yet spent only 1.5m or so according to TWTD. Pretty funny we are chasing yet another loan though isnt it?

Their chairman must think we're mugs. They got him on a free ffs.
I hope he refuses to play for them and they're stuck with him.

I quite expect to see Jackson arrive here at some point. One can only assume Paul has to cover his back with a striker just in case all deals fall through before the transfer deadline.Remember we can always take them as a loan ready to sign them in January.(just a thought)We also have the two lads from Shrewsbury and the possibility of Tilt as well.It must be manic for the management at PR.

Last player from Cardiff is one of our sick notes. Warnock doesn't let decent players go. I am questioning yet another pros mentality

Anyone else getting annoyed with all this "Chairman Tweets" b*llocks?! They all seem to be at it these days. I find it particularly uncouth.

Jackson's scoring record isn't that of a £2.5m player. In fact I'd say £1.75m is very generous.

Accrington are price-gouging on the back of the potential Waghorn transfer and subsequent windfall.

The club is quite right to explore other options.

Peterborough fans just laugh when I mention Bogle to them.
Total crap was the response I got and if he is that good why did Cardiff not play him last year and why are they happy to let him go and why do we want a player who is nowhere near as good as Waghorn

Give it a rest Chico. We've spent £2.25m as we have agreed a fee for Donacien. We've bid £1.75m for Jackson, £1.4m for the Shrewsbury two and £700k for Tilt (which may now have shifted into the Nsiala pot). Do you want us to spend the money just so you can say it's spent? We are bidding on players. The money is there. If we can't get the players we want though it makes sense to loan one or two in does it not? Hurst clearly wants to buy, Evans has given him the funds. You'd have to be an idiot to not realise that.

Karlosfandangal: I don't want to feel like this, but I must admit, I too am very doubtful about this one. Smacks a little bit of desperation? But let's see what next week really brings ...

Keep Waghorn, and give him decent contract. We might look serious contenders then

Chico did you watch the Paul Hurst press conference yesterday ? He clearly states they wont be paying over the odds for players!

The message to Accrington is simple...LOL

Looking forward to tomorrow!

I'll believe the money is there when it's spent. Donacien is on loan, that is a fact, we have agreed a fee to pay at some point in the future (but cannot do to outside the windows) that is also a fact. It may be that paying that fee is contingent on Waghorn leaving. As things stand, we have spent 1.5m and are loaning players in/being connected with loans. If any players arrive on fees I will be happy to say I am/was wrong and that Evans was indeed lying when he said the financials will remain the same in his video address.
