Town Meet Shrews' Valuation for Nsiala and Nolan as Signings Get Closer
Saturday, 4th Aug 2018 20:03

Shrewsbury chief executive Brian Caldwell has revealed that the Blues have met his club’s valuation of central defender Toto Nsiala and midfielder Jon Nolan and expects the deals to be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

Speaking to BBC Radio Shropshire, Caldwell says the initial fees have been agreed but discussions still ongoing regarding sell-on clauses.

“From the Nolan and Nsiala point of view, I’ll be honest, they have come back in and more or less met our valuation, I’ve stuck strong to that.

“I think I’ve made it clear that there was no compromising with my valuation. Where we’re at just now is that they’ve tried to put in a lower sell-on, which I’m not happy with because you just look at the players that we’re had and I think, to be fair to us as well, we want the valuation and we also want the sell-on at the right percentage.

“So that’s where it’s at just now, I would imagine that will probably bottom out over the next 48 hours and hopefully we can get a conclusion to it from everybody’s point of view.”

The duo were both left out of the Shrews side today having been barred from training after handing in transfer requests following Town's rebuffed joint-bid earlier in the week.

Speaking at his post-match press conference Blues manager Paul Hurst said Town were getting closer on some of their targets: “I think some are kind of edging more in our favour."

Speculation Jonas Knudsen off to to Stoke for £1m, seems low price for a young international player, he has always said he loves Ipswich, i'd be disappointed to see him go, but interested to hear other opinions?

@meekreech Like the model we have followed up to now has been so successful. Championship castoffs on the way down and worth nowt when they leave.

No, we have to identify promising players on the way up, who appreciate in value, and blend them with local and home grown players.

Otherwise the club will eventually die.

@meekreech

Can we have some names of the players you would sign...because experienced players like Gleeson et al weren't exactly awe-inspiring.

Prefer the approach of signing players that we are likely to sell on rather than release on a free...

I laugh at those you state on here that it disappointing to read negative post. Are these the same people who do openly stated Mick last season?

I to am very concerned about the lack of real quality in our side. The bench yesterday was made up of boys and we got away with a draw by a freak goal in the final few minutes. The defence was a shambles for both Blackburn goals so very unimpressed. I think we are in for a very long season here everyone!!!!

I laugh at anyone who can be so unbalanced and overly judgemental after one game.

Agenda much?

Plenty of positives everyone to see yesterday, unless you were at St Andrews

micks team that took us backwards is fastly being dismantled, whether this is good or bad we will find out....but we were going nowhere with mick, just treading water poorly while sinking each year....so i feel better, a change is as good as a rest, as they always say...its all too early to get really microscopic... knock back a few apple ciders and enjoy life, everything comes to those who wait...i am running out of cliches and sayings now and my glass is more than half empty, so its time for a trek across the kitchen to the dark cold white buzzing object in the corner .....bye

It's good we are making signings. Tbh let's not expect to much this season. It's a rebuilding season and push on next.

The problem Paul Hurst has is not a lack of players with championship experience. It is a lack of players with the experience of playing the system he uses. We WILL play 4-2-3-1, it is the modern way of playing football. In fact, we have a steel on many clubs, we are leading the way at club level. However, the old school players do not have the knowledge of this type of system and what is required. Interesting Paul Hurst put young Morris ahead in the queue of "more experienced ' players yesterday, but then he has spent much time away with various England teams in the last couple of seasons playing these type of systems, and looked in his comfort zone when he came on.

Also, if we sign the two Shrewsbury lads and Tilt, Paul Hurst strikes me as the sort of man who will play his own players, and there are two centre backs there. New skipper required I'm thinking.

Waghorn is/was crucial to the deals going through now the club is a bit more sure that he is going for the right price it has opened the doors for our deals I like the look of Tilt and Nolan, the shrew defender not so sure but only watched a few shrew games but feel sorry for all the good fwd thinking young midfielders we already have as I feel they won't get a look in as Nolan will be no1 pick with Skuse in mid field I was impressed with Wolfenden so would stick with him In the middle along with Tilt and having Jonas/Kenlock/Edun one side and Janoi/Emmanuel the other I feel we have a really good set up now and very optimistic for the season ahead COYB

Excellent news, not sure about Nsiala but Hurst clearly rates him and I trust his judgment. Nolan looks pure class though, really hope we can get this done as I think he could be the answer to our missing midfield creativity problem that in all honesty I think we've had since we were in the premier league!

No one is interested in your private life Bobble.

What you get up to in your kitchen in the dark with white buzzing objects is entirely up to you.

For all the doubters about getting players from the lower league all I've got to say is matt Holland! As you were!

It is a pity a few more didn't practice what they preach and support their team last season.
Yes, Edwards looked a good player yesterday but some of the others are clearly League 1 material and will find their level next season as we seem determined to sell off the family silver to our rivals and replace it with poor quality.

Time will tell.

Not too sure of Nolan. Hope he is mentally strong enough, as will need to be. Hope Waghorn does well at Boro. Should do as seems to be hitting form of career

I think the biggest problem we've had in the last few seasons is lacking strength in depth and I'd rather have a bigger squad with hungry younger players on smaller wages than a smaller squad on the same wages
