Town will pay tribute to legend Kevin Beattie, who died earlier today aged 64, at Tuesday’s home game against Brentford, while BBC Radio Suffolk are dedicating a three-hour show to the former central defender tomorrow morning.

The club will be holding a minute’s applause prior to Tuesday’s kick-off, while the players will wear black armbands.

“I didn’t know Kevin personally but being in the game I know what a top player he was and I’ve found out since I’ve been at the club how he is held in such high esteem by the supporters and the players he played with,” Town boss Paul Hurst told the club site.""

“It’s a very sad day for the football club and football in general. My sincere condolences go to Kevin’s family and friends.”"

Monday’s BBC Radio Suffolk breakfast show (7am), presented by Mark Murphy, host of Life’s a Pitch on which Beattie was the legend-in-residence for the last seven years, will also pay tribute with the likes of George Burley, Allan Hunter, Terry Butcher, Arnold Muhren and Charlie Woods among those remembering the man considered by many the club’s greatest ever player.
