Bishop Continues Comeback and Jackson Hits Hat-Trick as Strong Town XI Thrash QPR
Wednesday, 14th Nov 2018 17:38

Teddy Bishop played 60 minutes and Kayden Jackson netted a hat-trick as a strong Town XI beat QPR 5-1 in a behind closed doors friendly watched by new manager Paul Lambert at Playford Road this afternoon.

In addition to Bishop, who was taking part his second game as he returns from his latest hamstring injury having played 45 minutes for the U23s against Cardiff last week, Myles Kenlock was involved in his first match since suffering an ankle injury and was given the first half.

Jackson opened the scoring just before the 20-minute mark from a Bishop ball into the box following a Grant Ward corner.

The former Accrington striker grabbed his second from the penalty spot after Bishop was fouled, then Jack Lankester made it 3-0 just before the break with a low strike.

With 10 minutes remaining Tayo Edun made it 4-0 with a 25-yard shot, then two minutes later Jackson completed his hat-trick before the visitors bagged a late consolation.

Meanwhile, Blues loanee Trevoh Chalobah joined the England senior squad for training earlier today.

Chalobah is one of three Town players with the U20 squad for Monday's friendly against Germany at Colchester alongside Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell.

Town: Wright, Cotter, Nsiala, Donacien, Kenlock (Clements 46), McLoughlin, Bishop (Folami 60), Edun, Ward, Lankester, Jackson.

Another comeback from the Bish, let's hope that this time it's for a sustained period. Remember him coming on at a Villa last season and he just waltzed round 3 players like they weren't there. Real talent, just needs games!
Although Jackson gets a bad press on here I personally rate the guy. Great work rate and he has an eye for goal imo, just needs some better service and I think he's got a future with us.

The Bish is such a talent. Really hope he stays fit. Him, Dozzell and Downes has so much potential in a three man midfield.

I think Jackson's bad press is largely down to him being our most expensive signing since I don't know when and then being *very* rough around the edges. If he'd come in as a non-league punt signing (which is where he was at when he arrived really) who was gradually being polished up on the training ground and in the U23s it wouldn't be a problem.

I think Jackson could turn out to be a very good signing in the long run -
- he's still young (24)
- he undoubtedly has pace, & an eye for goal (16 in league 2)
But I think he needs to play alongside a big striker as he sucks in the air - much like Freddie

Good to see Bish's carefully managed rehabilitation continues successfully. To get him fully fit and performing consistently would be a huge bonus for PL an£ the team. He has undoubted talent.

Agree, too, that Jackson may yet prove to be a sound signing, and worth persisting with; albeit that's more difficult given current pressures. But today's showing suggests that there's a player in there.

No sign of Huws - sadly. Wonder what his fitness situation is.

This replaces that unspeakable 0—2 defeat at Portman Road the other week, right? So three more points to the tally. Excellent. (Can we replay the Hull and Rotherham matches next please?)

That is a very strong second side... And Donacien is fit again now?

I'll believe Bishop will play a couple of consecutive games - when we see it.
