Town Closing in On Hull Striker Keane
Wednesday, 2nd Jan 2019 14:35

Town are reportedly closing in on the signing of Hull City striker Will Keane.

According to HITC Sport, the club is in talks with the Tigers regarding Keane and TWTD understands there is substance to the report.

The 25-year-old is on the fringes at the KCOM Stadium and manager Nigel Adkins is said to be willing to allow him to depart.

Stockport-born Keane, who is out of contract at the end of the season, came through the ranks at Manchester United where he made two sub appearances in the Premier League and spent spells out on loan at Wigan, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston.

In August 2016, Hull paid the Red Devils a reported £1.02 million for 6ft 2in tall Keane, who has been capped by England at U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 levels.

A serious knee ligament injury - the second of his career, he previously missed the whole of the 2012/13 campaign - saw him sidelined for more than a year of football with the Tigers and he has made only 11 starts and 15 sub appearances, scoring once, since making his move to East Yorkshire.

Overall, Keane, whose twin brother is England international centre-half Michael, has netted only six senior goals in 45 starts and 33 games from the bench.

This season he has made one Championship start - the 2-0 win at Leeds last Saturday - and seven sub appearances, in addition to two games in the EFL Cup, without finding the net.

Manager Paul Lambert is on the lookout for two strikers during the January transfer window with a big number nine a priority as he looks to turn Town’s season around in the second half of the campaign.

Looking at his highlights I like the look of this lad he's clever and can bring other players into play and is clever in front of goal ok the highlights didn't show that many goals but he's there to shoot so could be another Mcgoldrick with the ball at his feet he's tidy and seeing as Mcgoldrick was one of the best with it at his feet imo can only be a good thing and is tall so should win his fair share of headers and if i remember rightly Murphy didn't win all his aerial battles and hasn't had a lot of luck since he left us nor has Waghorn and changing the subject i hated Roy Keane as manager but I remember him saying that Jack Marriott was the best finisher ipswich had albeit he didn't give him any game time as he was young but I think he was right as the lad doesn't stop scoring where ever he's played and is keeping Waghorn out of the team at Derby and is being recognised as the next Championship player to step up to the Premier league we seem to produce these good players and letting them go so hopefully Will Keane will be one that others have let go and Lambert can get him performing for us and Man u supporter saying why did we let him go
