Boss Lambert Pays for Fans' Coach Travel
Saturday, 19th Jan 2019 10:37

Blues boss Paul Lambert has personally reimbursed the travel costs of 50 Town fans taking the official coach to today’s game at Blackburn Rovers.

Fans embarking the coach at Portman Road at 6.45am this morning for the 500-mile round-trip to Ewood Park found a letter on their seat from the Town manager.

With coach tickets priced at £37 each, in total Lambert, who yesterday confirmed he would be staying at Portman Road next season no matter which division Town are in, paid £1,850, a gesture which was warmly received by those travelling.

The Blues manager has repeatedly praised the club’s support since taking over at Portman Road in late October.

I hope in many years to come the town fans are having the debate about who is towns best ever manager
Sir Alf or Sir Bobby (Total Legend) or Paul Lambert.

The best after Sir Bobby was MM but ME didn't provide the financial backing at the right time.History will show that was the opportunity of a lifetime missed. No criticism of ME as he has put in over £100M and is still counting.MM was unfortunate to have followed previous Managers who wasted what was in the pot! Can't see PL staying for more than 12 months or so as Division 1 won't suit.

Excellent from PL. Such a lovely gesture. He deserves all the plaudits he is getting on here. Let's sing his praises at the next home match.

@Mustan have to disagree, George Burley would be my next on the list after Sir Bobby.

Take note Marcus Evans!
It doesn't take a great deal to re-connect the fans with the club.
Well done Paul Lambert.

Whilst like most fans I think it is a nice gesture, I can't believe reading some of the posts on here!!!

The same fans that were so toxic to Mick and hounded him out of the club and now realise what a great job he actually did do to keep us in this very competitive league! Well yes, well done PL, let's hope the morons don't turn on you like they did Mick after you have been here a while!

Will you give this man a lifetime contract already? I never want another manager in here.

We need a Paul Lambert song, this much is clear

Reminded of an old song we used to sing "all we are saying is give us a goal" but how about about
some new La Bamba lyrics - We had a letter from Lambert, oh Paul Lambert, he'll make it better will Lambert, oh Paul Lambert ...😅
