Blues Offer Dozzell New Deal With Canaries Among Premier League Clubs Showing Interest
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 16:07

TWTD understands Town are in negotiations with midfielder Andre Dozzell regarding a new contract with the 20-year-old being eyed by Premier League clubs including local rivals Norwich City.

Dozzell’s current terms are up in the summer of 2020 but with the Blues understood to have the usual additional year’s option on his deal.

Town boss Paul Lambert has been keen to tie all the club’s promising young players down to lengthy deals and it’s believed Dozzell has been offered significantly improved terms.

The England U20 international has long been linked with Premier League clubs with the Canaries, whose interest has been the subject of rumour for a number of weeks, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace all among those currently keen.

However, it's understood the Blues have received enquiries from some of the interested parties, Norwich among them, but are yet to receive a bid.

Dozzell broke through into the Blues first team at 16, scoring on his debut just as his father Jason did at the same age, but suffered a major setback when he missed all but the opening 45 minutes of the 2017/18 campaign due to an ACL injury.

The former Copleston High School pupil returned to fitness last season but was largely on the fringes, making 11 starts and nine sub appearances, scoring his second goal for the club on the final day against Leeds.

Meanwhile, Town are one of a number of clubs claimed to be showing interest in free agent former Aston Villa and Fulham striker Ross McCormack.

According to TeamTalk, the 32-year-old is ready to rebuff the chance of a lucrative move to Asia to play in the Championship or League One.

Town, Charlton, Coventry, Wigan Athletic and Reading, as well as clubs in Scotland, are all said to be interested.

However, even if there’s any truth in the story it’s unlikely the Blues would be in a position to offer wages which would tempt the Scotland international, who came close to joining Town during Roy Keane’s time in charge, to Portman Road.

Bluearmy - I think the problem is you come over as very arrogant. People have different opinions. You could be right and Evans could go on and destroy the club . However , you could be wrong too. Your opinion is yours and there is no issue in expressing it . However...if people disagree that doesn't make them a sycophant, or have no ambition or have no passion towards the club . It purely means they have a different view to you.
I personally find it really really annoying how you and some others just turn posts about other matters into an anti Evans rant .
I know you won't care what I think but just trying to make you see another view.

Some might see me as arrogant, that's fine. I don't think I'm an arrogant person (in real life) but I do feel very confident that Evans is destroying the club I love and that if he's still here in 5-10 years we will still be league 1-2 or worse. Nothing from the past 11 years gives me any faith/confidence in anything else. You're right though, people can believe what they like. I just struggle to understand how anyone can have any faith in Evans given his form. Fans that don't stand up to him and do their best for their club, the result will be their enduring shame.

Well bluearmy-81 you can help me, you can tell me and others how SCMP works within the ITFC business plan and how they can get round it, actually Sunderland would also like to know, so over to you on that one because according to my maths I find it virtually impossible for additional funding.
However, according to you other third tier clubs are spending, I can only see 3 or 4 and the max fee was £500k. Let us know who the others are and help us poor down trodden serfs to understand both these points please.

500k would be something Rabbit, I'm not calling for brewsters millions to be spent. ITFC, your club, are getting nothing though prior to one of the most critical seasons in our history. Why are you defending that, as a fan?! You boggle my mind.

I'm defending nothing bluearmy_81 I'm looking at what is possible within the rules, you will note that Sunderland, owned by very wealthy owners, only sold last year and this.
If you are not prepared to read the facts and interpret them then how can we take anything you say with any seriousness.
I have said before that it is quite clear that mistakes have been made, but I dispute it is a simple as flouting funding rules.
As for your utter arrogance in relation to those that don't share your un-calculated view point, surely before write something as strong as "the result will be their enduring shame" surely you think before posting such offence.
I assume if ITFC get into the prem in the next 5-10 years you will feel the same shame, although I doubt it.

I wouldn't feel any shame at all, I'd hold my hands up and be very happy! I can't see it though Rabbit and I'm not a pessimist. Remember who you backed and who you stood by. There's gullible and then there's some on here...

Ps you managed to contradict yourself in 2 posts, one minute you're talking about Town not being able to invest due to the rules, the next you are talking about rivals spending hundreds of thousands on players they require...

Bluearmy_81 added 19:18 - Jul 23
Evans will not get us into the prem in 10 years if he is still here, I'm absolutely convinced of that. If you believe otherwise I'd love to know what you base that on...🤔🙄

Arnie ,Evans got rid of that useless article mad Mick cos nobody was going to games, maybe if people voted with there feet and not say yes sir to all his cock ups
Then the club's might move forward and not stagnant like it has been the last ten years.

No bluearmy_81 I did not in any manner of form contradict myself, secondly who have I backed?
You have no idea what my thoughts are, my posting is usually just to ensure that your utterly nonsensical posts are questioned, lets face it you can't read accounts and have been unable to understand the written EFL rules otherwise there would be an adult discussion instead of churlish rants about something you have not taken the trouble to try and understand.
You said that as a psychologist you only deal in facts, try a bit of studying the facts, if you really do have a Masters Degree you can surely do a bit of reading on this point.
