Vincent-Young Bid Accepted Report
Thursday, 15th Aug 2019 10:08

Town are reported to have had a bid for one-time trialist Kane Vincent-Young accepted by Colchester United.

The 23-year-old right-back, who also operates on the opposite flank, was believed to have been the subject of a Blues approach earlier in the week and we understand discussions have continued over the last few days. Now, Sky Sports are reporting that the League Two U’s have accepted an offer.

Vincent-Young spent time on trial with Town during pre-season ahead of 2018/19 but wasn't offered a deal and ended up signing a new two-year contract at Colchester.

Last week the one-time Tottenham academy youngster, who also had a spell with Banbury early in his career, was linked with moves to Championship sides Luton and Charlton but their transfer deadline passed with Vincent-Young still at the JobServe Community Stadium. Leagues One and Two are still open for transfer business until September 2nd.

However, Town may not be the only contenders for the Camden-born defender’s signature with Sky claiming that Sunderland could also join the chase.

Hope we can get this one over the line. At least something is going on behind the scenes that we don't always get to know about. This is the kind of player we are able to look at realistically at present, which is not to downgrade the lad.

(TractorCam) Sky Sources are not the most reliable when covering any transfers I prefer to hear from people who have links with the club then I know it's 100%

I think this is on balance a positive move especially as he can play on either side, would be interested to see how much Evans has committed to this transfer.

My in laws are all from Stoke on Trent so I saw this guy play for Colchester against Port Vale on the opening day of the season and I thought he was decent, hes quick, he likes to get forward, he has a bit of skill as well. I'd suggest the moaners at least give him a shot before they judge - hes only cheap because hes out of contract at the end of the season

You evidently weren't at Nouble's last game for us at Crawley a few years ago. Seemed a nice guy and all, but it was probably the most inept performance up front in a Town shirt I ever remember seeing. ;o)

I can see if he goes elsewhere it will all be the fault of Evans of course, like players or agents only consider the money!
Hope it gets done and we get our man.

First Lambert Cash Signing? Would be a good acquisition as he can play full back on either side and gives Lambert some flexibility. Both Taricco and Mills could do both sides and served us well over the years, hopefully this lad will do the same. Wonder who will pick up Josh or whether he or Cotter will be part of a player exchange deal.

Got to be honest never seen him play but signing a full back was a must and a 23 year old on a permanent deal is a step in the right direction from a policy perspective

Off-topic rather but the alleged racist chants at Luton? This sounds HIGHLY unlikely and I've heard nothing in the mainstream press. Anyone?
